All but me will agree Ford makes the best 1/2 to 1 ton + trucks, but who's your 2nd chioce if you could not drive a Ford.

Is there anything else?

There are two manufacturers of trucks:

1) Ford
2) not Ford

Based on looks alone, I would have to pick GMC. But, since I haven't driven anything but a Ford, I'd have to drive them first to see which I like the best.

The only other truck I would consider would be the Ram 2500-3500 with the Cummins IF for some reason I couldn't buy a Ford. If I was in the market for a heavy duty truck it would be the new Super Duty (of coarse with the 6.0 Powerstroke) without question.

6 months ago I wouldn't have even considered buying another F150, the changes on the horizon for '09 have made me rethink that. I'll either be replacing my '04 or adding an '09 to the fleet.

Power Wagon or Sierra Denali.

A close second to my XLT 5.4

You got that right!
At first I thought the new chev/gmc looked ok... as time goes on I think they are getting uglier and uglier. And that is strange.... because when the 04 F150 came out, I thought it was ok... and as time went on it grew on me and now it is by far the best looking truck.

As of today, if I were in the market for a new truck it would be between the F150 and the new GMC Sierra. I have to admit the new GMC is a beautiful truck. I have'nt driven one though so I can't comment on that.

The new Sierra is basically an F150 with a GMC badge on it. All the "innovations" they came up with Ford did first.

Notable exceptions: Side curtain airbags. Stability control on some models. Standard ONSTAR across the range. Extended cab rear doors that swing out to 172 degrees. Useful in tight parking spaces. Cylinder deactivation for fuel economy. More horsepower and torque available.
While these may not all be GM innovations none of them are available on the Ford. The bar has definately been raised. I am looking forward to seeing what the '09 F150 will offer.

If Ford was not a choice ( ), my order would have to be:
1. GMC Sierra
2. Chevy Silverado
3. Dodge Ram
4. Toyota Tundra
5. Nissan Titan

Lets just hope I never have to make that choice.

Well I will probably catch s#it for it but Toyota Tundra, hands down. It's a badass truck. Expensive as all get out, but nice. Followed by the Titan, then Chevy, and lastly Dodge.

Notable yes, innovative not really. They're more luxury car conveniences that have made their way into everyday vehicles. Side airbags have been available on Mercedes, Lexus and BMW's for years the technology has finally become cost effective enough to make it more widely available. I could care less about ONSTAR, just another $30-$40 a month I have to pay out on top of my loan payment. Judging by how heavily GM advertises it there's quite a few people that feel the same as me about it.

The extended cab doors are still only useful if you have enough room to open them in the first place, time will tell how good the hinge design is. Cylinder deactivation is a nice feature, definitely a selling point for my next truck. I too am looking forward to the '09 F150's.

1. Ford F150 STX V6 with a 5 speed manual
2. Ford Ranger FX4 Level 2 4.0 V6 and a 5 speed manual
3. Toyota Tacoma 4wd ext.cab V6 5 speed manual
4. Toyota Tundra 5.7L regualar cab/short bed 2wd or 4wd
5. Dodge Power Wagon hemi and a 6 speed manual (if its an option)
6. Dodge SRT-10
7. Ford Lightning 03-04

I was taking into account: vehicle price, insurance cost, gas prices, and how much I like the truck. I put to much thought into this post .
