Looking to wear some 35's

My brother is going with 40's on his superduty and he'll give me his perfectly good 35's dirt cheap. I just have to figure out which route to go.

They're 35x12.5r17. Will those fit on my factory 17" alloy wheels?
Next... which spacer? Is a 2" enough, or do I have to go 2.5"?
Which brand? I know the AutoSpring with the offset design is pretty popular. What else seems to be working really well for people?
I figure I'll probably have to do a little trimming. Basically you just take a little plastic off of the ends of the lower valance, right? That's not a problem.
Eventually I'll throw on an add-a-leaf when I get some more cash, so maybe 2.5 would be best.

I'd like to see some pictures of 4WD SuperCrews with 35's. Tell me what spacer you have and how high. Also if you have rubbing or not, and if you had to do some trimming. And most importantly, are you happy with it? How's the ride compared to stock?
Thanks!

Hey.. long time lurker here but I thought it was finally time to sign up.

I have a similar setup to what you are looking at, BFG A/T 35s on the factory 18x7.5 wheels. I went with the Autospring 2.5". Overall, I think I might've gained just under 3" with it. I also did a 1.5" add-a-leaf too.

Trimming... actually didn't need any. Just had to remove my mudflaps, which were no big loss. There is some rubbing on the upper control arm at full crank, although it doesn't seem to be much of an issue.

I'm totally happy with it though, makes the truck look soooo much better. Ride quality is better in town, don't feel the cracks in the road as much, and seems smoother on the highway as well. I have a couple pics in my gallery as well.

Looks great. Just what I'm going to do eventually. Is your AS the one with the offset design? Also, are those tires 12.5" wide?

I believe it's the new offset design. It was ordered in May/07 from Autospring so I'd assume so. The tires are 13" wide on a 9.5 rim, but on the stock 7.5 rim, it's probably right around 12.5".

Your truck is 4wd though correct? I would go with a 2.5 and hope you won't rub.

Yes. I have 4WD. I'm leaning towards the 2.5" AS with the offset design. I'm looking to hear from people who have the same set-up. I'm also wondering if a 12.5" tire is safe on the stock rim.

Daystar 2.5" or Autospring 2.5". I've had both and they are both good. Neither of them is better than the other IMO. Yes the 12.50s will be fine on the stock wheels, just run the correct air pressure. I've got a friend running Nitto Terra Grapplers, 33x13R18, on stock wheels and she's got about 30,000 on them with a bunch of tread left.

I hope this helps!

It makes me feel a little better, but I've been searching and reading a lot of old threads and I'm starting to think that 35's might be a little bit too big and I don't want clearance issues and the like. I see most people with 6" lifts are running 35's and that makes me think that it might be rather tight with just a 2.5" spacer.
That takes me back to either 285 or 295/70/17 since I won't be using my brother's tires. I'd feel better with just some 305s, but I don't have the money for new tires and a spacer and an AAL and install. Oh well. I need to keep doing some research and listening to peoples experiences with thier setups.

Personally, I'd do the 2" Autospring along with a set of Toyo Open Country M/Ts!

I was looking at the Hankook DynaPro MTs. They got great reviews and they're pretty cheap. In 285/70/17. Then going with the 1 5/8 AS (do they even make that size anymore?) for a little bit of extra lift when I have the extra cash. I would like a tad bit of lift in the front. I don't want to go too high with the spacer because I'm a pansy and am worried about the angles being thrown off and having to replace ball joints prematurely.

325/65/18 TGs. 2.5" AS front, 1.5" AS rear.
