Got 'eeem!

First off I want to say thanks to the forum for the valuable "real" feedback on these trucks and modifications. I poured through these threads and pictures for a long time before deciding how I wanted to do my truck up. So here's what I did and my early impressions.

'eeem:

2007 F150, Super Crew, Lariat, 4x4, 5.4, 5.5-foot bed, captains chairs, black exterior, black leather interior, 6-disc w/mp3 and Sirius, reverse sensors, 5-inch Ford chrome step bars

Mods:

6-inch Pro-Comp w/the add-a-leaf
325/60 R20 Toyo Open Country AT
20x10 KMC Monster wheels (chrome)
4.56 gears by Modifications Unlimited
SCT XCal2 with custom tunes by Blow by Racing
Rapid Hitch billet 5-inch drop
Spray in bedliner
Window tint

Coming next week:

Magnaflow cat back rear single side exit
JLT ram air intake

Impressions:

The thing rides as smooth and quiet as I had hoped it would. I'd say just a hair rougher than stock. The add-a-leaf made it sit perfect and did not make it ride any worse. Before the XCal and gears the truck had ok power and actually better than I expected (stock gears were 3.73) but was still too sluggish for my taste and pulling too tall with the 35's. The tunes alone made a very noticeable difference and easily worth every penny. The gear shifts feel much better and you can really feal a good power increase. The tunes just make it drive like you want it to. The gears are the bomb and along with the tune make this truck feel about 1,500 pounds lighter and downright sporty. It carries itself easily and accelerates from any speed quickly and without much effort. I will give better fuel economy numbers in a few weeks but in all stop and go so far (except the first few hundred driving it home) and engine under 800 miles I've calculated 12.9 and 13.8 mpg for a minimum of 200 mile runs the later being with the gears and tune (the tune is 87 octane economy and all calcs included compensation for tires/gears and now the tune has corrected all that anyway). I am fairly happy with that considering everything is still tight and it was all stop and go I think it will end up at around 15 mpg in mixed driving which is what my old F150 got bone stock and much lighter. The tires are quiet with a very very slight howl that can only be heard with stereo completely off and a/c low. Wheels of course are very personal opinion but the chrome Monsters gave the look I was going for and the Rapid Hitch completes the black and chrome (or billet aluminum) look of the truck. So far I'm getting no whine from the gears and have been just driving normal around town to break them in. I'm itching to get on it one time but will wait another few hundred. Also I'm anxious to see the highway performance with the gears. Anyway so far I've been very pleased and felt that each mod was well worth the money. I was skeptical of the tunes but it's hands down the thing to do and actually nearly as big an improvement as the gears especially at 1/3 the cost. The gears though are the biggest improvement for sure.

I forgot the WeatherTech mats and MyBuddy lookout bed for the pups. The mats fit the front like they grew there and for me were well worth the money considering I'm always in and out with muddy boots. The rear mat fits good but not great and is dark dark gray not black however not noticeable once installed. Overall I'd give the mats a 9.5 out of 10. Hopefully the pups like the bed and don't whine to much but at least they stay harnessed in and safer than on my lap. They can chill in the back seat and still see.

Yea the black does require a lot more attention not to mention hotter especially in south Fla. Hey Screw-Me-05 I hear you on the traffic but I just moved a little south of all that plus I avoid 95 like the plague...I'm 2 minutes from the Turnpike (not great but tons better). Anyway I've gotta find something to get me away from this truck or I'm gonna be single, homeless, and broke soon. Already talking to my guy about heads and cam he's saying at least another 70hp rear wheel. Nah I'll wait.......it would be dumb to break into that engine now, right? Right? yea
