Question Larger Fuel Tank

Hello Everyone! I have been lurking for several months, and have finally decided to post a question. I have an 06 Super Crew long bed XLT with the 26 gallon tank. I was hoping to find one with the 34(?) gallon tank when I bought the truck, but stock was limited with the options I wanted. Does anyone know if I could buy the bigger tank and install it in my truck? Thanks in advance. Love the sight. Eric.

run a search, there was a thread about a month ago regarding the larger fuel tank.

from what i remember reading in that thread, it sounded like it was doable but the cost of doing the swap was ridiculous.

I've seen a few in boneyards with the big tanks. I wouldn't buy new if you can avoid it, the cost is ridiculous. I am wondering when the aftermarket is going to provide a good upgrade path as the range on these trucks is horrid...

Soooooo glad I opted to spend the $95 on the tank during my special order.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help. Just needed to say it. My fiancee thought I was nuts for wanting a larger tank. I told her, 'if I EVER end up wanting it, it's gonna be a heckuvalot more than $95 to get it.' I had NO idea it was up near the one grand mark!

Now I just have to sit on my hands for another two weeks until she arrives! (then the mod parts pile I have here gets bolted on with reckless abandon within the first 24 hours! LOL)

I thought all the super crews came standard with 30 gallon tanks? Is it different for the long bed (6.5 ft.)?

Mine has the 30 gal tank (albeit I have the 5.5' bed).

Standard is 27 gal (both my 04 and 06 XLTs) there is a 24 gallon (not sure which package) and the 34 gal that I didn't even see as an option on anything but the XLs.

If you got one on a truck with any options I say good call, I get something like 380 miles at most on flatland with the criuse set at 70 the entire time with a 5.4 and 3.55 LSD 2x4.

Per the Ford website (this is 2007 Info, most likey the same from 04-07) :

Regular Cab: 26/27/35.7
Super Cab: 26/27/35.7
Super Crew: 30

I knew that they only offered the Super Crews with a 30 gallon tank.

It must be just for 07 because when I was shopping, the standard tank on SuperCrews was 26 gallon. Thanks for all of the replies.
