i paid 65 for mine but then again that was when i ordered the truck overseas in iraq. everyone said i was crazy and didnt need it. glad i did but now i cant afford to fill it up lol. seems like all you have to do is find one thats wreck and get the tank and straps for it. i compared mine to one with the stock tank when i was doing my exhaust because it keep hitting the tank and the spare tire. only difference that i could see is that the larger tank sits about 8 inches further back and 4 inces deeper. so the larger straps to hold it to the truck. hit the junkyards because found an 06 there in great shape and took the towing kit, tailgate, and all the screws out of the doors and dash. front was smashed to hell but i will be selling everything on ebay real soon. i even took the rear bumber with backup system. can check back monday and see if it hasnt been crushed yet the tank and all were in excellent shape. from the doors back the truck is in pristine condition. from the doors forward looks like bigfoot ran over it

if you can or are willing to order the truck, get it the way tha you want

when I was looking in THe Mobile area and in the adjacent pensacola and pascagoula areas, no one had what I wanted in the package I wanted

It had to be ordered, I had to argue with each dealership as they only wanted to force me to take what they had on their lot.

when I gave them the either you are willing to quote and order me a truck or I walk after a couple of visits, I still had to fight them for my configuration

All the dealerships ahd packed lots at the time, not just Ford dealers, but all wanted their price on their terms

they tried to pack a few extra items but I stood fast and also told them I did not want their undercoating, paint protector, fabric protector and no dealer sticker

they also tried to get me to take the 5.4 engine, no thanks, not with its plug problems, I don't pull heavy loads, just bulky
4.10 rear, no thanks, I do not tow heavy loads
leather interior no thanks
they just tried to add extras

4.6 engine, auto, trailer package, 35.7 fuel tank, deluxe mirror and rear window package, cloth bench front, standard am/fm radio with single CD (the one mistake my part should have gotten the one with the 6 CD capacity), solid color, chrome clad steel wheels, Michelin tires, manual a/c, overhead rail storage with extra storage units, traction control, 3.55 rear with limited slip

It is a package or configuration that works for me

if you can order a bigger tank, it would cost more to add in parts and labor than to get from the factory

what do you guys get for mileage range? I have the 30 gallon tank in my Screw. I get 300-400 miles normally driving around town, and I once got about 575 miles before the fuel light came on.

btw, I have gotten 21 mpg out of my Supercrew with 5.4 3v and 3.73 LS axle.

get the biggest tank you can get. I love filling up every 2 to 3 weeks instead of every week. It seems to hurt when you're filling it up with more time between fill-ups. It's all mental.

Contact Mike "NDEBT" on the National Harley Trucks board.
Mike on there sells new Ford parts very cheap and is a Supporting vendor on that board and I have dealt with him on several occasions and is a great guy to deal with.
Here is a link to his forum on NHTOC:
http://www.nhtoc.com/vbforum/forumdisplay.php?f=118

Hope that helps you out.

I ordered mine with the 35 gallon tank so I'm hoping I won't have to fill up every week like I do now.

Later...
Bruce

try car-parts.com. It's an online junkyard with an inventory of all years (thousands of 04+ f-150's).

I knew that they only offered the Super Crews with a 30 gallon tank.
Maybe they've changed to the actual gas rating you can get out of the tank.

I've never run my 30 gallon tank all the way to having the truck shut off, but the most gas I've ever been able to put in it after going about 40 miles past the low fuel buzzer was a bit over 25 gallons...

to question on mileage

made trip to St. Marks Fla. from here west of Mobile Al.
had 1 adult and 3 teens beside myself
probally 500 lbs of luggage and stuff in the bed

round trip 580 miles
filled up as I left at 7:OO am yesterday
trip over at just under 70 about 68 with speed control
rpm's under 2000 rpm
no stops once I hit I-10 until Tallahassee Fl
some minor stops at lights looping arround the town

return trip was after dark
ran aout 68 mph all way back
no stops on I-10
just myself in truck

left family visiting with relatives in St. Marks

ths morning refilled the truck, about the same time and temperature

put in 28.29 gallons
makes mileage 20.5 mpg

made same trip last winter and got 21.5 with 20-25 mph tailwind going over,
came back at night with freezing temps and no head wind nor tail wind

My normal mileage runs between 17 - 18 mpg
and if not careful it can run arround 15-16 or worse

I also have a hard tonneau and mud flaps on the truck added after arrival,
the truck otherwise is stock

I wish it got the mileage of my Tarus, but it is a truck and much heavier therefore lower mpg

locally driving 17-18 mpg I get about 510 to 540 miles between 30 gallon fill ups with 5+/- gallons as reserve, if careful and maintaing the 17-18 average

your mileage may vary depending on your driving and enviroment

remember I drive gently and plan ahead

I wrote to Transferflow RE: availability of tanks for the 2004 - 2007 F150. I thought you might be interested in their response.

"Hello,
Unfortunately we will not have a tank avaliable for some time. The F150
trucks are hard to work with because of emissions. We also don't get too
much of a request for it. The majority of our customers pull massive 5th
hitches/trailers and drive massive trucks (diesel)and so the tiny tanks
are almost unusable.
We do have refueling tanks though. It would need to be pumped in
manually as opposed to automatically fed. Here is the link to our
website so you can see sizes and dimensions.
http://www.transferflow.com/refueling_tanks.html
Please let me know if you have any other questions!"

Please write to them and let them know that there IS a market for oversized tanks on these trucks. We might not be pulling the biggest trailers, but I sure as heck hate the idea of being relegated to the back seat as it were because I am not driving a Super Duty. They make tanks for the 1997-2003 F150, and since the F150 is the most popular vehicle on the planet, you'd think they would want to support this market...
