Paint coming off Front edge of box

I was washing my truck today and noticed that on the front edge of the bottom of the box where it meets the cab that the paint is coming of on both sides of my 2005 truck:o . I also noticed my brothers 2005 truck is doing the same thing. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Both trucks have mudflaps and have never seen an unpaved road so it cant be rock chips. Also if it was do to road debris the entire underneath would show it...

any info would be helpful

No idea, but mine came with the plastic paint protection film at the bottom of the bed in those areas. And both the outside edges of the rear bumper!

That sure doesn't sound like a wear-and-tear issue.. Were your and your brother's trucks built at the same plant? I'd sure ask your dealer WTF?

The spots that are missing are right where the metal bends in behind the cab doors and both trucks have the rubber stone guard on the bottom the full length of the truck from the factory. My truck was built at the Norfolk plant in june of 2005 and my brothers was built in the missouri plant in Nov 2004 so it is not a plant issue. I didnt notice it until I was washing the bottom edge of the bed sides. It looks the paint is popping off where the metal has a bend in it. What really bothers me is that it is bare metal under it and no rust so it must be recent. If it was a stone chip it seems like it would be to the primer and not chips the size of a pencil eraser. I hope to get to the dealer next week. If you get a chance look at your trucks and see if it is doing the same thing. If I get a chance tomorrow I will try to get a picture so it is easier to see what I am talking about.

My paint has popped at the lowest corner point on the front of the bed on both sides... right in the rubber stone guard.

It's right where my nerf bars would protect from stone impacts as well so I don't believe that is my problem either.

I wonder if this is a stress point and it is causing the paint to pop off.

My paint is messed up bigtime there too, along with the front edges of the bumper...its from all my gravel roads though. Sure its not something like that.

Mine isnt chipped underneith the doors or anything on the rocker panels, just the front bottom edge of the bed and front edge of the bumper.
The plastic film on mine was destroyed in two days from the gravel.
