I got stuck in a dried up swamp (mosty dry) Pictures

The pictures dont really do it justice. I was driving in this swamp bed. I was looking out the window and watching my tires as I drove. The tires were only sinking about 2in. Then all of the sudden my tires started to break loose. So I put it in 4hi, and it just sunk. Then I called a buddy out to pull me out (he has a 5in lift and 33in iroks), but he got stuck too. Then my dad came out in our excursion (stock except for bfg at's), and it sunk like a brick. Then we called another friend with an f250 (37in swampers, and 8000lb winch), he could not get the excursion out cause it was sunk to the frame. But he got my other friend out with the f150 w/33's. He got stuck while trying to winch me out, but I was still stuck. Then we called another friend with a f250 w/ 39.5in iroks, and he tried to get the f250 w/ 37's out but he got stuck as well. Then we called the tow truck. He was an idiot. We told him not to go into the swamp, he just told us "dont worry this truck was designed by nasa." We just laughed as he made it about 3ft into the swamp, and he got stuck as well. We hooked one of the tow trucks 16k pound winches to a tree that was about 150ft away (we used alot of chain and straps). Then we used that tow truck to drag the excursion out. Then the tow truck manager came out and so did a better 4x4 tow truck. They used that tow truck to drag out the f250 on 39.5's, then the f250's 37's, and finally my truck was pulled out. We had to use about 200ft of chain to get to my truck.

It took almost 7hrs.

The pics dont give it any justice. The tow company does alot of business with my dads company, so they will cut us somewhat of a break. Probably around $400.

Everytime the winch got someone loose they would haul *** out off the swamp, but there is a canal around the edge, which is dry at some spots. The guy in the f250 thought it was all dry and he was flooring it towards the a fresh spot of the canal, but it was a wet spot, and he just nose dived into it. It sounded like a car wreck, I thought the whole front of his truck was messed up. The front was just sunk in the mud. The tow truck had to re winch him out. He like cranked the whole front of his truck up and pulled it right out of the canal. It was a very interesting day.

Ya, pat it was fun. We were all talking about it today saying that it was fun, except for paying the tow truck people. I'll let you all know how much it costs they said they would bill us. We tipped the drivers and they said they would cut us a break. They will probably only write up a couple of the pulls.

I'm glad I've never been stuck so bad my ford 3910 couldn't get me out. It's nice having a tractor around sometimes.

It looks that that would have been a great time to have a 12pk of beer and a chair, then just sit back and watch.

That's exactly what I was thinking! You'd be amazed at what a big *** tractor can do.

All you need is this when you go off road in a swamp.

You could have pulled all the trucks out in one shot with one of these babies...

(Then again, you wouldn't know if you were ripping your truck in half or not... this thing would not give your truck a second chance if you weren't careful...)

If I had anything other than a 2wd 4door 4.6 I would probably have posted several of these types of threads myself!

I can only quote a comedian after seeing all the pic's and reading about 2-3 more trucks sink in the mud. "Deeeee Dee Deeeeee"

Looks like it would have been some real fun!

Hope the tow-truck guys do cut you a break!

Someone actually brought a tractor, but it was starting to sink even in the not to bad areas.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

All's well that ends well.
