guys i need help, i will be grabbing the avic-d3 navi unit and installing it myself. i am very familiar with installs, but would like to know what i need to take full advantage of this unit. im starting with just the stereo and sat radio and will later get the cd changer. i guess my question is, which wiring harnesses do i need, what needs to be done for the navi to work properly, how do i do the dvd bypass and i have audiophile system so how do i take full advantage of factory sub. please provide any and all pics of installation of this unit.

thanks so much

Call Crutchfield & tell them what you have and what harness/mounting kit you will need, that will be your best bet. I have the Avic D3 and would recommend getting a Ipod instead of the CD changer. As for the bypass, here's a link on how it's done.

I installed this last weekend....awesome unit. Right now I am running ipod and XM radio. Didnt do the bluetooth cause I have heard some not so stellar reviews on it. Sometimes wish I went with the XM NavTraffic, but I live in DC, so its pretty much a guarantee that there will be traffic. I couldnt justify spending another $100+ for something to tell me that there is traffic in DC....yea, no s--t.

AVIC411.com is your best bet for all the info. I got my wiring harness from Sounddomain.com. You put in your year, make, model and trim package. And then it comes up with a couple of options (one for premium sound one without).

Let us know how you like it.

I think thread titles should be a little more descriptive as to the thread's contents so people will know weather they want to click onto em' or not.

I thought this thread, after reading the title, was some kind of announcement from Ford.... or along those lines.

Whatever...

Thats why you mouse over the title and it will give you a preview. I find this quite handy so that when a thread title says something like OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can scroll over it and see what the first sentence is. If it doesnt grab my attention, I move on to the next thread. Try it sometime, you might like it.

thanks guys for the info. as far as title, i did do it to grab attention.
i have done a bunch of installs throughout the years, just wanna make sure with this type of unit and its features, i want to make sure everything is wired properly to maximize its potential. an example is i know older pioneer decks allowed you to control the sub by being able to turn it off and on and set the crossover gains. will this deck allow you to do that to the factory sub.

thanks again

greg
