"Range" on the PATS system is approximately 3/8 of an inch.

I think you're out of luck.

all i know else about the new altimas is there is no key hole on any doors on the models.
im not sure about a remote either.
if you have the key with you. it will detect it and the doors will unlock when you press the small button on the door.i wonder what you do if it ever malfunctions

Different I guess.

NOW, if you could hide the cylinder with the key in it back in the steering column so it would detect the PATS, but not have a key showing to anyone that looks in the window....THEN hide a switch for the accesories and a button to start, it would be nice.

No keys to mess with at all, no one would know how to start the truck. Unlock with the keypad.
I guess living in the sticks Im a little less concerned about theft
But still, hide the switch and the button good, and maybe stick a cylinder in the stock location that isnt hooked up and any theif would probably think its just a regular truck.
Thats something I would do...dont have to mess with keys or a fob at all that Im always worried about losing, or get to be a PITA to carry around at times.

Dangit, that was my next mod, right after I remove the power windows and put cranks back on. I also thought about breaking out all my turn signals so I had to roll the windows down and use hand signals every time I turn...

anything else I can do to make it more of a PIA to drive?

That's what Patrick and I talked about doing. There has to be so cheap transponder that you can hook up. I don't think that switch idea is safe. I know word gets around. I can just imagine my friend asking me how I started my truck without the key and him bragging about it someone else, etc. Not worth the risk.

Josiah I will post some pictures up in a bit.

Here it is. My letters on my button have worn off, mostly. I took the coin holder and made a hole in it and flipped it upside down and stuck it in there lol. It looks stock and fits good. Enough for me!

Edit: Josiah, sorry it took me so long to get the pictures up.

True... Not exactley the most secure thing....
If there was some sort of what to make it a little safer that is something I would want to do though...
