Post your experiences with this setup. What are the gotchas? Do you get rubbing? How did you deal with it? and do you use your truck off road?
There's LOTS of guys (and gals) out there that are looking to do what you have done, and want soem heads up on exactly how to do it.
We are looking for info on specs for how everything went together, how much clearance you've got now, etc...

it can be done with OEM wheels only. the offset on the aftermarket wheels will cause the tire to rub on the bumper. 33's will fit but not 35's. i have a 2.5 leveling kit and OEM 20's with some 35x12.50 r20 m/t's on my 06 FX4 but i had to use wheel spacers and trim the valance panel a lil bit. still have minor rubing on the upper control arm.
Maybe, but there are actually more than a couple of those trucks here.
is a really good looking example, and I want to know how he pulled it off...
Actually 305/70R17s (34x12.50/17) seems to be about as large as you can go. But I am fishing here to see what is possible.

Okay, I am finally getting the kind of information I need on this. With close to, or similar backspacing to mine, 35x12.50s, and 315/70R17s (34.5x12.5 ish) rub, a little on the street, a LOT off road.
I offroad my truck. Not a LOT, but a lot if that makes sense. Way more than most guys, but I don't wheel it as hard as some guys.
From what I can tell. Pretty much anything taller than 34", and wider than 13.50 WILL rub. Soooo, that leaves with me 33x12.50/17s which I don't really care for the options that are there. Or 285/70R17s which is what I have... The 305/70R17 is a 34" tall tire, 12.5" wide, and about right, but is offered in only four models that I know of. Goodyear Wrangler MT/R, Remmington Mud Brute, Maxxis Buckshot, and Maxxis Bighorn.
I have been asking about the Buckshots and Bighorns here, and on several other boards and it seems about 80% of the guys that have had them loved them. 20% say they wore out too fast and were loud, and rough.
These percentages of people disappointed with their tires are a bit higher than those that own BFG Muds, but BFG muds don't come in a 33x12.50 in a 17" rim size. Nope, they stuck with 285/70 which means sure they are roughly 33" tall, but only 11.5" wide. I want tread width too you know!
I am a bit worried that the 305s will rub as well, but I see a couple of people with that size on this model truck (both guys running Mud Brutes), and they do the kind of wheeling I do without any rubbing. It might be worth considering...
Knowing my luck though, I'll go ahead and get the Bighorns, throw them on, and they'll rub...

a 35 will fit just fine with the proper backspacing, I'd stick to 33" tires if your staying with OEM rims...take the truck down to your local tire shop and get a few mounted...most shops will test mount tires when someone is about to drop $1400-1500 in rubber
btw, the 35" tires will rub, but only when the tire is fulled locked left/right...and it's usually only on one side (don't know why). Your front/rear edges of the fender may have to be trimmed as well.
I wish I could tell you the backspacing though. it's something I'm trying to figure out myself.

I get rubbing now that my truck has settled. At about 90% turn POP POP POP and every head for 400 yards looks at my truck with a WTF look on their face. I just wanna scream "GETTING LIFTED JUNE 8th!!"
Mine works. The only rubbing is at FULL lock in reverse. Not a big issue. I have done some minor offroading, no rubbing. I did have to trim the front valance a little.
The key to aftermarket rims is backspacing. mine are 17x8s with 5.5 backspace.

Good luck!
I have a 2007 5.4L SCrew Lariat 4x4, which I have installed a AS 2.5" leveling kit. I purchased a set of Toyo Open Country MT 35/12.50/R20, I first attempted to mount the tires on the stock 20's but they rubbed the upper control arm knuckle. They also would require some minor trimming of the front valance, and of the tire well skirting on the back side. Next I tried using an after market wheel with a neg 15 offset. This would have required major trimming of the fender on the backside. At this point, I gave up on the 35's and purchased 33's, although I did considered purchasing a 4" or 6" lift, but if figured the only one that would enjoy the truck after installing the lift would be my wife, because she would have killed me for dropping the $1,800 plus on the kit and installation. Will reconsider after the warranty runs out on my truck. PS. Don't off-road much, but when I do it is pretty rough terrain.
Note: Smokestone's tires are actuall 34.4/12.4 with the 17" wheels, but they look great! Makes me rethink the tires that I'm purchasing.

I like the look of the Pro Comps because, well they look just like a BFG MT to me, but they have an actual 33x12.50 which is cool. But they cost nearly as much as the 285/70R17 BFGs, and the reports I read on them scare me off of them.
What's your experience with them?
It's not that I'm wheeling every single weekend or anything, but when I do, I wheel the snot out of the truck!
