I mean '04 is not that long ago..you would think they remember some of this crazy stuff or would be willing to take the time to look into it...must not be high enough profit margin for them to even care about I guess ?! I have the TSB now so I will talk someone in to looking into this for me !
Sounds like it's time to find a different dealer and service department that actually knows what they are talking about.

Geez...FX4ME2 you really want to torture yourself. You would have to run the keypad wiriing to the handle but now you have me wondering if the drivers would work on the passengers but you would just have to run the wiring ?! I am just trying to get my drivers keypad to work yet. Good luck to you ! Hey, how SE MI are you ? Monroe ? Bedford ?

i have an 05 XLT. i bought a keypad from someone on this forum, installed it and had the dealer turn it on. they had it for a few days trying to figure out how to make it work... but they did! your truck should have all the neccesary parts, the dealer just needs to do a little research...

Bedford here. Wiring, is one of my favorite things to do. I like challenges like that. The dealer told me that i could not add the overhead dvd to my truck, because it did not have the prep package, so i made my own harness and i have it. Plus extra's.

What dealer do you deal with ? I experience the same attitude of "not being able to be done" from Brondes in Toledo.

They should include turning that on with the cost of the keypad for you ! Hopefully you do not have a problem with your VSM !

well just got back from the dealer and no luck. first, the expy doesnt have a vsm, and they told me my truck wasnt built with that feature and they cant even talk to the keypad. it doesnt even light up. second, they still charged me the full 1 hour charge of $75......so i paid it and got nothing in return.

i even asked the tech if he knew there was a tsb to do it on a f150 and he said no....i even asked if a fusion key would work on a f150 and he said no.....i told him yes to both..........

i got my friend in parts to do a vin parts search and it said my vin has the keypad "disabled" i am going to do some more research and i hope i can find someone willing to just update it and see if that works.....

I know the feeling, but the dealership I took mine to in '04 when I first installed
the keypad finally got on the "hotline" with Ford and they walked him thru
the activation process. The tech was stumped as to why he couldn't make it
work, and he was totally convinced that it should. He said he wasn't going to
give up on the challenge. Now that the TSB is available for the F150's, it should no longer be a problem.

i finally called another dealer that i know someone at and he got his tech in the line and said he can do it.....only downfall is that it take 3 hours he said......dont know why....but as long as it is all ford parts.....he can make it work........i should go back to my dealer and see if he can call and make it work and give me a credit for the 1 hours and i will pay the other 2 hours.......we will see.........thanks...
