your driveshaft weighs what?...about 40 lbs at most. when they break it usually isn't some catastrophic event like you'd think. usually they just fall. sometimes when they shear there is a little force behind it.

I completely twisted one off like it was a pretzel. It sounded like I had dropped a brick from about 5 feet off the ground. just a large thud.

I had another one break on a launch coming out of a corner. u-joint failed and the shaft popped off the transmission tailpiece. once again, it just dropped and hit the ground.

that wire looks to be 1/4" to 3/8" thick. those things can take 500+ lbs of static load quite easily. I think it could easily hand the forces, even if it was a shock force.
