Rafa26, Transmission Broke Today !!!

After a hard launch i lost the 3rd gear and the transmission slips a lot if i leave the truck in DRIVE . Right now i can drive the truck in 2nd or 1st gear only.

Anyway i am not worried, Gregg Evans (Factory Tech's owner) is taking care of me as a son and he will ship me a 3 plate torque converter especially built for my truck. I won't use the PI anymore.

I will have to send someone to JDM to bring me the new Monster Box tranny that is sitting there for 2 weeks and get it installed here in Philadelphia as i can't drive to there with 1st and 2nd gear only.(70 miles from home)

When all of this is finished then i will take the truck to JDM to install the new lower pulley and get another 150rwhp/250rwtq with a new street tune.
Engine break in period is almost done.:rocker:

Why ?

1) why are you doing a hard launch when the engine is suppose to be in the "break in period"

That's not a problem hard launching, break in period does not mean you have to drive the truck at low rpms, that's why we can not break in the engine on high ways only. The rpms must vary always.

Another thing is that the break in tune shifts at 5300rpm only and the target is 6000rpm then even if iam going fast i won't be forcing the engine .

Things need to be broken in before you whale on them. :smoke:

Then again its your truck your money do as you wish.

I think there is a difference between a hard launch and going all out at the strip. I am not surprised at all that the tranny finally threw in the towel with the power output even with taking it easy. Rafa, I just wanted to say nice job.

Chances are you just have some kind of generic break-in tune and its not made for aggressive driving. I have seen to many people blow up built blocks on the break-in tune/period due to detonation on the top end.

Close to 6K.

I hate to say it but I've never seen any motor blow up because it wasn't broken in. . if it blew up, it was going to do so at any amount of mileage. I've built many race motors for motorcycles, which I raced, and never had a period of break in other than starting the motor for 30 minutes and than draining the oil and putting in synthetics. :lurk:

FTMB have had there faults in the past mainly after Gregg outsourced his work to Jasper. You should get a real FTMB signed by Gregg for a trouble free transmission.

why not just send the truck to JDM for the trans and pulley install?
