Got Rearended at 60 MPH

I am so glad I own an F150. My wife is pregnant and thanks to my truck no one was badly injured. I was driving down I95 friday night doing 65mph, traffic started slowing down I have my foot on the brake and boom the car behind me wallops me. I pullover and so does the car that hit me. The driver of the car that hit me jumps out of her car to make sure everyone is ok. Luckily no major injuries. Im look in my rear view mirror and see her hood on her windshield. I am dreading getting out of my truck to look at the damage to my truck.

When I finnaly get out of my truck I am kinda relieved.

Looks like you came out well. Does look like the impact was NOT 60 (luckily). That neon would be toast. She just slid under your bumper.

These trucks do well in accidents. Saved my life 9 months ago when I was T Boned by an illegal immigrant.

Glad everyone is ok. I think the trailer hitch mounted to the frame is a plus also adding extra support and ridgity.

It's fine in most cases but some times it will cause the frame to bend.

I wouldn't be suprised if his frame is bent upwards if the Neon was truely carrying some speed . .

Little bit of duct tape and some buffing and the Neon will be better than new. Could have been a lot worse, 2 weeks ago I saw a 2002 f150 that had its backtires off the ground and its hitch almost going thru the windshield of a toyota.

Yeah, that's more of a 15mph impact. But nonetheless, your 3-ton brick is sturdy!

it couldve happened at 60 mph if they were both traveling close to the same speed.

Yea I'd say he was going 60 and the neon about 75.

Glad everyone is ok

My Dad got rear ended in his truck about 2 months after he got it. He was doing about 15 and the guy pobably hit him at about 30. It pushed the bumper all the way to the body and bent all the bumper mounts as well as the hitch. I don't remember the exact cost to fix everything but I think it was around $2000.
