Pistons similarity?
I currently own a 2004 (new body) 5.4 3V F150... I cracked one of my pistons and am having trouble finding the correct parts for the overhaul as far as the dealership... Would a 2004 5.4 3V piston from and Expy serve the same purpose? would it have the same compression ratio? Are they the same engines? if not then whats the difference.. Help please... This is my daily... So the more its in the garage the more i lose money... Thanks guys..
Also... If i were to swap engines, seeing that they produce the same torque and HP... is that possible or would there be some complications?

Sounds like a good time to upgrade to forged internals. You can try here http://www.dssracing.com/propistons.htm Scroll to the bottom of page for 4.6/5.4 pistons

F150 and Expedition 5.4's are built on the same line at Windsor Engine Plant.
Both engines have the same pistons and compresion. I believe there are two sizes (grades they call it, only microns apart) of pistons available depending on the bore size, determined by the engine block machining dept bore measurements.
So yes, an Exp. piston can be used provided it is the same grade/bore size as the one it is replacing. I think the engine will have a tag of some kind with the piston call out size.
