I am almost sure that RoushMarkLT installed an aftermarket drive-shaft. Search his posts and you will find something.

My driveshaft was built with the heaviest Spicer U Joints and a Superduty carrier bearing. The tubing was more robust than stock (not saying much there, since the stock shaft sounded like a Coke can when you flicked it with your finger...).

Just be sure to do it right the first time, and it'll cost you less in the long run.

I'll be able to pressure test my shaft soon, since I upgrade my blower setup with a +2 lower and new injectors next weekend. Looking at ~ 440-450RWHP and 470 RWTQ with the new tune.

Good luck, and sorry you had this problem.

Lee

The F-150 wasn't meant to drag! What is up with this? Its a f.ckin pickup truck for Chr.st sake! Get a G.damn vette or something this is just silly!

wow that sucks! sorry to hear about that...

looks very familiar though...

only difference is the yoke is what broke in my case. i dont think the driveshafts are the problem, but rather the axle wrap putting too much stress on the u joints. im not saying the driveshaft couldnt be used to be replaced by a stronger ones, but i believe traction bars may be as much if not more important...

i had my driveshaft straightened and reinforced my leaf spring to rear end junctions as a temporary fix until i fab up some traction bars, and have been ok so far.

driveshaft safety loops are probably not a bad idea, especially if your front u-joints decide to go...

oh and thanks for the input miwico

Sorry about the outburst. I don't see the F150 as a dragracer and I think it is blasphomy to make a pickup into a drag racer. It is to me like making a VW GT into a hauling rig and seeing how much payload it will handle. Anyways race away, Ford designed this to be the one and only truck that is a real truck in the 1/2 ton range, racing it doesn't make much sense to me.

It aint cheap to go fast.......reliably :

The above is the drive shaft from my mustang. It now has a 2000hp rated, 3" driveshaft.
