Lots of weight in the bed overnight?

I have about 1,500 lbs. of river rock in the back of my '04 XLT 4x4 Screw that I just picked up for tomorrow morning's french drain install. It sure would be easiest to keep it there until the morning, unless having that much weight in the back of it for about 18 hrs is going to hurt anything.

Comments / Opinions ? Thanks in advance...

Nope you will be fine, unless you are parked on grass and it rains tonight. Then you might have some problems. But leaving weight on the truck is perfectly fine, my fathers F350 will have 4000-5000lbs (retaining wall blocks/patio pavers/sod) in the bed overnight alot and sometimes, mostly over weekends it will be in there for a few days without any problems.

If it was in there for months, I would be worried. For one day, it won't hurt nothing. Hell, I have left more then that in there for longer, really the only thing it will do is take the arc out of your springs.

It shouldn't be a problem at all.

I would throw a jack under the rear, like under the trailer hitch if you got one. I don't like anything that heavy sitting in my truck. Just jack it up alittle to take the majority of the weight off the springs.

People put 2000 pound campers on the back of their truck for months at a time and have no problems.

Im sure it will be fine over night.

Bull! This is what a truck is for. I hate it when people are scared to use their truck like a truck.

It's your truck, i was just telling you WHAT I WOULD DO. Any time you let weight set in the bed of a truck, or in the trunk of a car, OVER TIME it will weaken your suspension. As far as a trailer is concerned, that is why they have leveling jacks and a dolley in front of the trailer. It WILL benefit your vehicle to take the extra weight OFF your suspension any time you can. But you know it all, call your local spring shop and ask them how good it is for your vehicle's suspension. One time may not hurt, but why would you want too if you could ease the load off your truck????

during the winter i always have a couple thousand pounds of firewood in the bed of my truck over night and sometimes over a couple nights, and i make these firewood runs to my ranch several times per year. ive had the truck since 03 and there are no drawbacks on my suspension its still rock solid and sits just as high as it did when it was brand new. they are built for this kind of stuff, Ford doesnt brag about the 3k hauling capacity for no reason...
