Price for replacing clutch packs?

ive developed the stupid rear end shutter when taking off and am fairly confident that its the clutch packs in the posi unit.

my question is, does anybody know what a dealer charges to replace these? my truck is out of warranty and im going to have shell out for any repairs...

thanks in advance

Warranty...

This is a TSB (technical service bulletin) that Ford is repairing free of charge under the warranty. I dont believe they have the fix yet but Ive replaced them twice because the problem comes back for some folks

According to a long ago thread, the shudder is because the clutches don't slip enough. He said to take the truck to a large empty parking lot and do a bunch of figure eights. He said it corrected his shudder.

I did read somewhere else that the replacement clutches were not as strong as the originals so they would slip more.

im going to try the friction modifier and circles thing and hope it works...

$519 i can buy a whole new posi unit for less than that... im not sure though if i could just pop it in using the existing carrier shims or if the shims would have to be changed...

oh well, we'll just see if this easy method works first...

FYI: I had the same problem when I bought my used 04 f-150. I added a whole bottle of friction moddifier, solved the problem. Although I still have some kind of vibration just before stopping when coming to a complete stop. Not sure what it is and truck is out of warranty. Haven't thought much of it, anyone have the same problem?
