My guess is the PCM, with the airbag light now staying on, a P0622 AND P1000 DTC being set? I can't see an aftermarket alt. doing all that while still charging the battery. Just a FYI: someone did mention about disconnecting the battery before you remove any wiring harnesses from the PCM on the firewall. It may create a spike that might harm the computer.
The airbags have their own dedicated module, there's no way in hell, not even fathomable, you've-got-a-better-chance-of-being-struck-by-lightning than the PCM causing the airbag light to illuminate.

I made my recommendations and you want to do everything except what I said. The only variable before and after your problems now is the alternator you installed...shouldn't that tell you something?

I'm trying to help you, but you don't wanna listen...

He'd rather go on his hunch rather than your mechanic's experience, go figure.

Not to sound like a ****, but i did write I was going to get the Motorcraft alt. to make you guys happy. I appreciate the help you guys are trying to give me, I'm just aggarvated to hell with this POS. All said and done, I will be $500-800 in the hole for this stupid batt. light. And now the dam airbag light is coming on? High engine idle, (P1000) OBD system readiness test not complete, (P0622) batt. light coming on after 2 min. of engine running, and an intermittant airbag light sounds more like a PCM to the inexperienced than just an aftermarket alt, (which has been tested and passed) sorry for trying to reason.

I am sorry to doubt you Qunitin.

Sorry about the delay guys, way too much misfortune on my end lately. I scored a Motorcraft alt. and now all is fine. Quintin, you were correct, I apologise for doubting you. Just a little miffed about paying $200 for a new alt. that works, but trips the batt. light and raises idle RPMs. I have no clue what was up with the air bag light. It came on for a few days, and then stopped coming on. Who knows? Motorcraft alts. ONLY in our trucks guys! Now I have to do battle with Autozone about a working, slightly used alt. that trips the batt. light. Thanks for the help and diagrams guys!! This site saved me AGAIN!!!!!
