E-Brake is sticking!!

Vibration on the interstate and I went to a level P.Lot put her in drive and she barely creep forward. Put her in "N" and tried to push... could barely push it. Through her in "R" and she's only creep backward under light acceleration.

I did a few HARD brakes.... set the E-Brake reved the motor up a little and pulled the release... No more trouble today! She's running fine... any idea why the E-Brake would start acting up all of a sudden?

I have seen some post in the past, talking about this... Never paid much attention to them and now I cant seem to "Word" the search right to pull up any information on it. I know this has been discussed....But can ya help me out?

Thanks!

I did this a few times on my '99 a few times.

What happened was I kicked into the parking brake, enough to set it just enough to apply the parking brake, but not have the light come on. But sure enough, I got smart one day, and I pulled the lever, and what do you know, 'click'. It was down just a enough to apply friction.

Now I am smart, I set the brake everytime, and it hasn't happened in a long time, and never on my '07 yet. Yet is the key word here... I'm sure it will happen.

'04's on up are notorious for this intermitent problem. Experienced it myself. The cable gets hung up on the pass-through to the drum, coupled with a crappy steel stamping for the actuating lever, and it just siezes up. Some have has luck dressing out the hole. Personally, I'd like to see an aftermarket company come up with plated levers to eliminate rusting.

This is why I don't set the PB anymore.

Have had no problem on mine since adjusting them so the weren't so tight. Originally, you could hardly push the e-brake pedal down at all. Now it goes down further, still no where near full travel, and does not rub when off.

There is a known issue with the parking brake sticking on the 04's. Dealer changed mine out at no charge.
