Tire Pressure Sensor
Tire Pressure Sensor
I have a 2005 F-150 with the 5.4 motor and 4 wheel drive. Does my ruck have wheel pressure sensors? I can't find anything in my owners manual, but my manual came out of another truck because mine was missing it when I bought it.
Do you have the original sticker? That would be the easiest way to check. Your dealer can run your VIN for a factory list.
As best I can recall, tire pressure monitors came up on the option list for 2007 models, but it may have been available on some 2006s, too.

tire pressure monitor is new for 07... and it is standard. Any one have a 07 and put new wheels on yet? I wonder if there is a way around the light going on if the wheels don't have the sensors.....

2005's aint got em and the transmitter should be able to be transfered to another wheel. I'm not sure what the Ford ones look like but I know the ones at work are made onto the valve stem and can be removed and exchaged. And yeah, there are small antennas at each wheel that pick up the signal from the TPS. I think at first they came out with regulations to only have to detect like a 25% loss from one tire to the others so lots of manufacturers used wheel speed difference to detect a low PSI on one corner.......but if all 4 tires were equally loosing pressure then that system would not work so they changed it and require the systems to detect actual PSI using the sensor in the wheel.
....it's a small flat black box that's on a strap that's strapped to the inner circumference of rim, it's not near or associated with valve stem from what i could tell. The tire guy was glad i warned him about it.
