This cover has been somewhat of a headache. Picked it up back in January and it sat in the garage until last week. The install is fairly easy other than lifting the thing. My girlfriend, two stands and my Craftsman rollaway helped get it up on there.

First up both front corners have scratches from shipping, Snuglid don't care and Roadway wasn't too helpful although they sent me a check for 33% of my estimate. Also, there was loose hardware floating around inside the box, I had to replace one bolt that was missing.

Secondly, I ordered the lid with the remote lock and it was missing. After a few calls the kit was sent to me and I'll need to install myself, kinda BS when you pay what you pay for it.

Third, the keylock is not flush, it sits a bit crooked when you look up close, again poor for the price of these things, but it'll be changed out when I install the new lock. They keylock is also silver and looks a bit out of place, I may try painting it to blend it in some.

The so-so. Snuglid now gives you a light, but honestly it's a joke. I'm currently looking for better light. Thinking of one of these: http://www.autobarn.net/pac207089series.html

One cool thing, the weight of the lid helps the rear end ride better.

Damn thats a long truck! Sorry to hear about all your troubles and the chitty customer service you received. Lid looks great though!

 

It's long, not very parking lot friendly but not a big deal.

Well the headaches continue...I started the keyless entry retrofit tonight. The directions might as well be in Chinese, they are completely outdated. So I just plow ahead and start taking things apart. Get to the part where I need to insert the new lock cylinder. This is where things go bad, the new cylinder (which also has new keys with built in fobs) doesn't match up with the plate it attaches to. After a few profanities, I call up Snugtop. Took some firm complaints to get some help, the rumors of poor customer service are not rumors. Tell the 3rd person what the deal is and we determine I've been sent an OUTDATED retrofit kit, that's incredible. So he tells me to use the original lock and he send out new key shafts. Great. (I'll believe when they show up) Get the lock back in and try to attach the lock rods. Ain't gonna happen, looks like I didn't get the updated rods either. Loose test with the actuator was a complete failure, pissed me off and I called it a night. Back to the phone I went to find out what else in the kit is outdated...the person I talked to earlier was "away from his desk" so I left a message. We'll see where it goes from here.

I love the lid, but if I had to do it over I'd go with Leer who has LOCAL dealers, lower prices and from what I understand GOOD customer service. So anyone else considering one of these Snuglids, be prepared to pay, money wise and patience wise.

Next up will be replacing the POS "light" with two LED strips once they arrive.

 

Sorry to hear about your bad expierience. I live 400 miles from the closest SnugTop dealer so I had to order mine and have Roadway deliver it as well. It sucks that your having a problem with thier customer service though. I had a few issues with hardware after about a month and got on the phone with them and two different times they overnighted me the parts I needed. I hate not having a Dealer close by, but for me the CS has been great. Hope you get it worked out cause IMO they make the best lid I've ever owned.

Man, I was this close to buying a snugtop SL. They look great but I can do without the scratches, the rediculously poor customer service and the other headaches that come with. Is there another lid that looks similar to the SL with carpet underneath. Even if it doesn't have carpet, I'd install my own if possible.

 

I'd send those pics to the highest person I could find with Snuglid corp and hope for the best (customer service), but IF you signed the Roadway shipping document, then you are legally screwed. I've been burned before, much the same way, and it won't happen again...Fully inspect anything delivered before signing off...especially fragile tonneaus.

The cover does look really great tho.

I know when i find the money to spend on a cover im gonna drive back to dallas (2hrs) to have a truck cover dealership install it and all that jazz.

Josiah - it probably wouldn't be a problem for you to find a local dealer in your area. The northeast, mid Atlantic and the midwest only seem to have one option for a dealer, MidAmerica. Looks like the northeast is a good place for a new dealer.

I signed and cashed the Roadway check, I knew by doing so I was accepting a settlement. The scratches are fairly minor, I think touch up paint will fix them, it's just a big bummer that it wasn't perfect. I did talk to other dealers and a few of them wouldn't ship the lids anymore, one dealer told me all the lids he shipped had been damaged to some degree except for one sent to England

Once I get past all these headaches, I'm sure my negative view of them will pass.

As for the length of the truck, it's an illusion, the long box makes it looks like a yacht. My truck has the same overall length (229.8") as a SCAB with a 6.5' box and is actually 6" shorter than a SCREW with the 6.5' box and only 6" longer than a SCREW with a 5.5 box. So mine really isn't longer than most of yours, just looks that way
