Time to give up trucks for a little bit.

Well I have made my decision. As soon as my lease is up I am getting my grandmas Eddie Bauer Expedtion it is an 01 with only 52k miles on it. Its in awsome condition and shes getting a new vehicle. (shes got money) So i offered to buy it from her and she said she'll think about how much. But she said it wont be over 8k. So im gonna give up trucks for a while. So i can save up to buy a house and other things. This way when i get married ill have this vehicle for the wife and ill get me a truck.

Sounds like a good decision!

It's nice to see someone around here who is planning for the future a little bit instead of going out and trading negative equity in on a new truck and then wondering 18 months later how much they might be able to sell their truck for because they've realized they're in over the eyeballs.....

Well I was like that. I thought i needed the best truck and im only 21. There were some good people on here that made me realize that i dont. I have a bad spending habbit. Trying to turn that around. So i think this will help me save some money for a home.

I've been wanting a new truck pretty bad since mine has 60k on it and i'm getting bored of it, but 2 weeks ago I bought a house instead. I'm only 22 and I feel like a house is more important than a new truck. There is nothing wrong with planning for the future. All I used to care about was driving cool things, but i'm starting to realize that there are a lot of more important things in this world. Good decision

It may only have 52K but, how do you know she didn't take it to the track and run the **** out of it?

You can still have a nice car and a home etc.. It's all about managing your money.

Good call. You sounded smart from the get-go. A lease is great because you WANTED the best truck but couldn't afford it. Give it time, you'll arrive if you know what I mean. A house is a lot better than any vehicle, and there's a good chance it'll go up in value over time. Sometimes my wife and I take walks in our neighborhood and we're thinking " How in the hell can they afford all that?". Almost always, it's because they took on HUGE amounts of debt. And never forget, that new car smell? It's the SECOND most expensive smell on the planet

She told me she'd give it to me for 500 bucks. I was like I have to give you more than that or i feel bad. And she said no, its a gift. Me and my sister are the only ones that keep contact with her. All my other cousins and stuff blow her off. My grandpa passed last year. She has been living with us ever since. I feel bad taking it for that much, but she wont accept anything more. Thanks for all the compliments guys. You guys are great. God bless you all with good fortune.
