Replacing CoilOver's Swaping from 2wd to FX4
 

I have an 04 Screw 2wd... I just bought some LIGHTLY used FX4 replacement struts... I have not messed with the coil-over designs before. But Im guessing that I will need a spring compressor of some sort to do this job?

This should also level out my truck as well..... and JUST IN CASE I decide to do this down the road..Where can I find some lift blocks with the squared u-bolts for rear... AutoZone/Advance.. they sell lift blocks but the Ubolts are rounded... like a "U" lol

First of all, swapping in a pair of FX4 front shocks will not raise the front of your truck. 2wd and 4wd front shocks are the same length, they just have different internal valving. the height difference between a 2x4 and a 4x4 is because of the axle centerline is at different heights.

If you want to raise the front up, you need a leveling kit.

I still have my old A.S. 2.5" kit and the rear 2" blocks w/u-bolts sitting in a box in the garage if your interested. My e-mail is in my gallery

No the 4x4 front shocks are different.

Look at some pics and you will see the diference. Just ask styxnpicks or whatever his name is. You know the guy with the real smalll mirrors. :devil: Just kiddin man!

lol, I'm still waiting for my new shocks to show up but when they do I'll take before and after measurments and report my findings

So even if I use the FX4 Coilover Shocks.... It's not going to lift my truck atleast a 1 - 2 inches??

I have been told once before that as long as I use the 4x4 Strut and Shocks that it'll lift it approx. 2" That's the only reason I went this direction?

Have I wasted some money here?:eek:

you'll have to wait and see, I know that my truck didn't drop at all with the 2 inch drop coils and 4x4 shocks

What about the steering knuckles? Dont you have to replace these along with the coilovers in order to achieve the 4x4 lift characteristics. I dont think that changing the coilovers is enough to effect a lift in the front end but I may be wrong.
