I have to be within 20 feet of my truck. It's kind of pitiful. It's more for when I've walked away from the truck and can't remember if I've locked it. When I go to double check I have to walk back towards the truck. Most vehicles I've owned work from a few hundred feet away.

It must be a Ford thing mine sucked too. So I just went with a aftermarket alarm.

Yeah it is kinda sad how far these things actually reach. I think the farthest ive caught on the system is about 60 feet and im talking a clear shot with no cars in front of me. I just tried it from the window of my office and yeah about 60-70 feet i assume.

Anybody ever hold it up to there chin? Has anyone heard of this because i remember a long time ago back in highschool people would do this all the time and ever since then i do it out of habit. I think it works

I have an aftermarket on mine and it works from at least 100 feet away, although my remote start doesn't. You pretty much have to be within about 50 or 60 feet for it to work....

Yea it really does work. It works better if you hold it up to your forehead.

I know people will think i'm just trying to get them to do something stupid in public, but it does increase the range.

its funny, i was at the library the other day and was proably 20 feet from my truck and couldnt get it to lock....
however, same day went home and walked about 50 yards + to my friends house across the street....and i was able to look it from there

i dont know if it had something with the glass deflecting it or what.

Yes, it works.

It turns your head into a sort of antennae.

Not sure on the range of mine but it is most definitely well over 20 ft.

The distance sucks on the F150. I had an 02 Taurus that was 10X better than the F150.

It works like a charm.

Your body acts like an antenna and the range - depending on the operating system - can increase quite dramatically. Bigger and fatter you are, the better the range -

I'm often using this method on all our vehicles.

Word of caution though: the longer the operating range, the greater the current draw on the remote's battery hence shorter the life ... or so I've often been told.
