What prices should I be looking for?
 

I'm trying to find a decent deal on tires. Now, granted I live in the boonies and can't just pop into a large nation wide chain store. However, I went to one of the local shops today and asked about the price of some BFG mud terrains and was told $350 per tire. I'm looking at Toyo, Nitto, BFG, and open to suggestions. I am looking for a pretty agressive tire. The size I'm looking at is 35x12.5R18 or an equivalent.

I got my 35x12.5 R18 BFG M/T's for $293 from a local tire guy....theres definitely room for movement on them.

Pro Comp has buy 3 get one free starting tomorrow. I'd do that if I were you

Any specific stores that are going to be running this special?

Have run across some real "wieners". Kroozers Tire in Amarillo, TX gave me a quote this morning.
I just want to post it so that anyone in the area knows what kind of shop they are. I priced the
BFG M/T 35x12.50R18 at their shop. They told me that they would be $419.00 per tire and an additional $18 per tire for mounting and balancing!!!! I hung up on him. :lol:

Have you tried discounttireditect.com ? They have free shipping and you can buy the warranty that is good for any discount tire co store anywhere? I ordered my nitto muds in 35x12.5 18s. Im not sure if those were alright with you.

Any place that sells pro comp tires will be running the special. I do but can't advertise on here so just look around. Pro Comp will actually set the pricing so everyone "should" be at the same price

How far is the nearest Discount Tire?? If you can it is best to but from them because they always have cut me awesome deals plus they stand behind whatever you buy 100%....Very customer service oriented.....

There's a discount tire about 60 miles from here. I did get an offer from Sears (same distance) that told me they would price match +10%.

After looking at tires all stinkin' day long I've kinda decided that if I'm going to have to drop this much cash I'd rather have a tire that will last a while. I'm affraid that the M/T tires will just wear too fast.

The tires I'm looking at right now are the BFG AT/KO, Nitto Terra Grappler, and the Toyo Open Country AT.

I've use the BFG's before and really liked them but wow talk about some $$$.


How do the other two do on sand/mud/snow vs. each other?

I bought my procomps from 4 wheel parts. They match any advertised price as well. I have bought a few things from them and they have always been great.

Decided on a set of Toyo Open Country AT in 325X65R18 for $246 each. I think that they're going to be the best blend of price and the type of tire I'm wanting. I'd rather get the BFG AT/KO. However, they were quite a bit more expensive, from the quotes that I got anyway (bout $60 each more). I'm exhausted from searching some 30+ shops. lol

One last thing that pluages me is just how close are the Toyo Open Country AT and the Nitto Terra Grappler AT are.
I've been told they are made by the same people. I've also heard that the Toyo's are just Nittos without the sidewall lightening bolt. Anyone share light on this. These two are very close in price.

Nice choice. BFG's are great, but unfortunately overpriced.
