brakes w/ new rims question

For those of you who have 20" aftermarket rims, did you have to buy new better brakes for your trucks? Is it really recommended to do so? If not, how does the truck brake w/ stock brakes on 20" aftermarket rims?

Also, does anyone know if the factory brakes on the f150's w/ the factory
20" rims are bigger or better than the ones the factory put on for the f150's w/ 17" or 18" rims?

i have 22s on mine, i havent upgraded my brakes yet. so far they havent failed me yet lol. I think anything bigger then 24s then you should look into bigger brakes but i think 20s and 22s will be fine

Ford doesn't upgrade the brakes on the vehicles equipped with 20" wheels, so why would you?

. . unless you like to drive like you're in the Craftsman Truck Series.

I used to, until I had to replace my factory tires at 22k

Thanks, glad to hear that it sounds like the brakes will be ok. I didn't know if there would be a noticeable difference or not. I didn't want to replace them anyway!

I never liked my stock brakes even with 17's. So, with my 285/50/20's I went with the Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads, a bit pricey but worth it. Stops a little shorter, and no dust, a big plus with chromes.
