Well Got back into it this after noon to mess with it some more. I went down to Pepboys and got some blue covers to put over the bulbs and i will see how that looks when it gets dark. But I did run into a little problem. I was trying to remove the coating on the back of the gear selector thing a really messed it up. It is a thinner piece of plastic and i ended up removing all of the paint. So right now I have a to guess what gear im in. Now i just gotta decide what im gonna do with that. Heres what it looks like. I just took a sharpie over to kinda cover it up.

I think that if im more careful removing the paint i should be able to leave the last layer of withe and take off the green.

Well guys this is what I have now. Not exactly what i was hoping for but it is different. I will probably be wiring some leds to direct the light better but that won't happen for a little while.
Turned out to be more of a teal than blue. And you really cant see the needles.

I got this from Moss. I like it with the red. I only wish that there was a way to make all of the lights on the radio and door panels/dash red also.

You can change those but you have so take out the old LEDs and solder in new ones. I plan on doing that the same time I put the LEDs in the cluster.
I have seen those overlays before and thought they looked good but this was way cheaper.

ive done EVERYTHING in the truck but the cluster which is now all over my table.

im snagged on the bulbs and the message center, i didnt know it took these bulbs i thought it would take the plcc-2 surface mount leds like everything else in the truck. no ive taken the whole thing apart just to see that i need to wait a week for the new bulbs to get here

If all you are doing is changing the bulbs in the cluster it won't change anything cause the cluster has the green film on it. And from what iv;e heard from other people just changing to leds even just the white ones to keep the same green doesn't put out enough light to get everything lit evenly. Thats why i was planning on putting an led in for every tick mark or number but i ended up breaking that cluster. As it sits now everything is blue except the cluster and idk if im ever going to finish the project.

you wouldnt happen to have the actual xlt gauge FACE still laying around for a donor project would you?
I wanna do something with mine and need a template without having to take my entire cluster apart for an extended period.
Ill ship it right back to you unharmed once im done
