How do you break the blue clip? I guess you really have to not know what you're doing to break the blue clip. Speaks well of a so called reputable service shop.

Got my truck back today, and all works well. They did not charge me for the line or labor to replace the line. They admitted fault and took responsibility for what they did.

I would not have accepted anything less. Congratulations on not having to fight that battle. Thread over now.

The tool can be found at Autozone, correct? . . is this a Ford tool or just a generic fuel filter tool?

advance and/or autozone. It's not a Motorcraft tool but on the back, it says for Ford 1990 and up. I'm still trying to figure out why some of you guys' lines have a blue clip thing, b/c mine looks nothing like it. I have a 2005 and on the upper end is a clip that come loose by hand, then use the tool to disconnect the line. On the lower end, it has the blue pin that is pulled up and with some slight pressure down on the sides, it releases. This blue clip thing must be on the Fram fuel filter.

I bought the tool from Matco Tools for about 12$, done in 6 min. would have been faster but I had to go get a screw driver to move the tab that keeps the filter in place.

How much play is in the lines when you pop the filter out of it's bracket? Specifically for the fuel line that goes towards the forward part of the truck?

Now to me, that is a good shop! Yeah they messed up, but they took responsibility and made it right with you. For me, that would earn them my business again. Little mistakes can happen, but if they take care of you, then that solidifies their commitment to their customers.
