Inside a 32,000 mile old fuel filter.........

I changed my fuel filter today without any issues. That is until I decided to crack open the filthy Mcnasty fuel filter. Below are some pics of the dirty fuel and the filter element. The fuel from the upstream end seemed clean. The pre filter fuel, yuck.

No, it is located inside the driver's side frame rail in the area below the driver's door.

I think I'd buy my gas somewhere else! I've pulled filters with more than 60K miles on them that weren't anywhere near that dirty.

Had mine changed on Thursady with 52000 miles on it. Made a big difference in acceleration after the new filter was installed, Gonna do mine at the 15 K mark for now on.

I didn't cut mine open but the stuff that came out of the pre filter end was very similar at 20k. You would think fuel would be a little cleaner. I use only good gas as well and we have the biggest Chevron refinery in the US only a few miles away.
