Lifted trucks and winter
Lifted trucks and winter
Hey guys...been wanting to ask this question. For you guys with your lifted trucks in the north. DO you take off your rims for the winter? Do you have small tires on or what this time of year? Been kinda rough up here...been in the negatives lately.
I put my stockers back on. To me its not worth running my aftermarket set-up, first because how much the my Nittos suck on snow and ice. And also because I refuse to run chrome wheels in the winter because of the salt, its one of those things that I never have done and never will do. Granted my truck may look funny with the stocker wheels and small tires on, but it is much safer and cheaper in the long run.
But then again I havn't even driven my 04 in about 3 weeks and I have only put on about 500 miles since about mid december. So I am kinda lucky.

OK Thump, just keep it in on how warm it is down in Florida. But I guess I will take the cold over the hurricanes that you guys can get any day....

I put my stock 18"'s back on the last 2 winters. It doesn't look right on a 6" lift but it sure preserves my expensive chrome rims shod with 35"s. Two months back I put Toyo MT 35 12.5 18 on my stock rims...thats better.

Mine stay on as well....You have to be very meticulous about cleaning them within a fews days of a storm though....I try to keep a good coat of Meguiars NXT on them too.....This is the 2nd winter they've been on....
My next truck I will have a set of Aluminum wheels to slip on in the winter however...chrome is too much work

Well i live in the great white canadian north and i leave mine on all year. Mine have been on for 3 winters now and they look as new as the day i bought them. As for the lug nuts i needed a new set every year. After the salty winter they start to rust.
maxx6 question
When I first got my maxx6 rims I had a problem with rim weights falling off going down the road. After 3rd try at the tire dealer they stuck on stick on weights. Hey COFX4- I see you have the same rims did you have any of these problems.
