Train Horns?

Big rigs and RVs have loud horns for safety reasons. They are big, and take a long time to stop. Sound needs to be louder to travel far enough to warn people to get out of the way. Trains are bigger, stop more slowly, and more dangerous than big rigs, so they have louder horns. They aren't meant to **** people off.
How will you be using these train horns. Impress girls? Not gonna happen...

Go with the Conductor's Special for sure. I have heard both in person and they are much louder. My friend that has them actually mounted them under his toolbox and they are still crazy loud.
Or as another option, you could get a Whelen 295 siren like I have. It has an electronic airhorn tone along with 6 sirens and a pa. It is the same unit the cops use. You can either choose between running it at 100 watts with 1 speaker or 200 watts with 2 speakers. I am only running 1 speaker at the moment and it is VERY loud. Just for a comparison, a pa running off a CB is only pushing 12 watts. sirennet.com

How much did that Whelen 295 siren cost you for the total setup?
I was thinkin about mounting the horns underneath the toolbox as well. It'd be the safest place for them going offroad and what not. Plus my alarm goes off soon as someone tries to climb into the bed so they wouldn't be any easier to be stolen back there.

You're looking at about $350 for my setup. $120 more if you want to add another speaker (this is on my future mod list). I installed it myself it was pretty easy. The speaker mounts well in that lower portion of the bumper where the hole is.

I have 1 I LOVE it!
Absolutly one of my favorite mods EVER....I have had more fun with my horns than you can imagine. BUT then again I like pissing people off! lol Mine are about 3 or 4 times louder than a standard semi truck horn and much lower toned (just like a train...imagine that.) In fact they are low and loud enough if your standing near the truck you can fell in vibrate your insides and the ground when they blow. Really though....if you ever get behind somebody at a light that turns green and they dont go....just give'em a little HOOOOONNNNNNNKKKKKK!
Mine are mounted side ways between the front cross member and the bumper..aimed out to the passangers side for full effect.

And I have the air compressor mounted under the drivers side headlight.

In your case though being your spare tire is pretty much useless to you I would consider taking it out and mounting them there. That will give you lots of room!
