Lariat vs. FX4

Also, the lariat is available in 2 wheel drive, the FX4 is not
I dont understand it why you see so many 4x4 vehicles in Florida. About 1% of them will ever make it off the pavement for anything other than a u-turn
its absolutely absurd if you ask me, but then again, alot of the people here are stupid and like to waste money

yo know that when you trade in a 4x4 you will get more money becasue it is a 4x4. so how are you wasting money?

Ah, but you're not getting the full amount (extra) that you paid for 4X4. If you're going to use the 4X4 or simply have money to burn, then cool. But for those of us who have no use for 4X4, there's no real reason to get it. If I want to get the extra two inches in height, then I can buy FX4 u-bolts and the longer shocks. Any resale value is going to be depreciated. You pay more up front, and you get a pro-rated portion upon resale. So, that argument doesn't really hold water.

I would never buy a used 4x4, they have a (warranted or not) reputation of being worn out and unreliable because "you never know where the vehicle has been".
I would be hard pressed to say a used 4x4 would have any more trade-in value than a 4x2, and honestly I can make an arguement for it having LESS.
Especially in northern cliamates
Plus, if you really dont NEED it, or have any use for it whatsoever, you really are doing a disservice and using more gas than necessary, and driving up gas prices for the rest of us (see soccer mom driving SUV)

I have yet to see one driven by someone under 50
But then again, when you consider how much they cost, it makes perfect sense

Pretty much the main differences between the two is that the FX4 has sporty rims with a more aggresive tire, skid plates, a better offroad shock, painted front and rear bumpers, the H style grill, different interior and exterior colors, a carbon fiber dash piece, and a different instrument cluster. It doesn't have, however, the eletronic temperature controls and as advanced an instrument screen, unless you get the upgraded edition obviously. It's gonna come down to personal preference in looks and whether or not you're going to need the offroading extras. Hope this helps!!
