Ford - Quality is job 1 ? Rattle...

well i have all of 725 miles on my '06 FX4 and i am going to have to bring it in to the dealer. the rear window has started to rattle on the drivers side. and not just when i go over bumbps. more like every two seconds. i've wsearched the threads here and i see it was a problem with 2004 trucks. i would have thought that ford would have fixed it by 2006 but i guess not. i just hope this isn't the start of a long list of problems to come.

(i guess if i wanted a trouble free truck i should have bought a tundra. i've got 80k miles on my 4-runner and the only thing i have ever changed was the glove box light. too bad the toyota pickups look like crap.)

I would'nt be too worried. Get it fixed and get it over with. A rattle is not a big deal. All manufactures have problems. Even Toyota. Have you seen all their recalls lately. As a whole these trucks are very reliable. For example my 06 5.4 with 10,000 miles has had absolutely zero problems. It just seems worse on this website because most people on here post every single one of their problems. It makes it seem as if these trucks are not reliable, trust me. They are.

I would have to agree with the above statement. I have a 04 with 40k on the clock and no problems (knocks on wood).

Like others said, any car or truck can have problems. You can't honestly expect EVERY vehicle to be 100% when they make as many as they do...be realistic. And it's even more unrealistic to pass judgment from ONE vehicle.

I've ridden in PLENTY of new Toyotas and Hondas that had rattles. That doesn't mean they all do.

I had a 4runner and I won't be buying another Toyota from my experience with it. I think every tree has bad apples but I wouldn't worry about it to much. Any car can have a few issues. Go drive that thing and enjoy it. They are great trucks. This is my second F150.

Hi Ron...

Sorry you're having problems, bud. Seroiusly... I am. The problem with internet forums is that 1) you end up with some true ying-yangs posting just to see themselves in print on the screen and 2) people flock to this type of forum with PROBLEMS, not necessarily with huge praise.

So, rest assured that just about any brand that you may find on the web from a 'message board' standpoint is going to be slammed full of 'problems'. I don't care if it's Saab, BMW, Jag, or Kia (that kind of goes a to z on quality eh?), there will be problems.

Most use these forums as a sounding board to get resolutions to PROBLEMS and don't really join and sign on to rave about how they LOVE their shifter handle or how their headliner is PERFECT; it's a sounding board.

That said, don't fret. Your problem is, unfortunately, a common one. As such, the TSB that was previously mentioned in this thread should be a very good starting point for your stealership to get you to the point of no rattle. And, while I agree that you shouldn't have this problem, it can be fixed.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
