New '07 owner learning experience.....FYI stuff
Well, 3000 kms into my new truck, and of course, some new mods......I've had a few weird experiences that I thought I'd never have to deal with....so hopefully those buying or considering buying an '07, this might be a good read.
Lately, I have purchased some mods that are "supposed" to "fit" an '07 truck, but, to my dismay, they aren't quite as advertised.
I think my truck might be a "redheaded step-child". Here's why....
1) Bought my Westin Sport Tubes from a local truck accessory shop. They are to fit an '07 std regular cab. All brackets fit on the bars, but the rear sets of bolt holes in the body don't match where the rear bracket holes are on the tubes. According to westin, I'm the first to experience this problem.
2) Ordered a Roush CAI kit, which was to be installed yesterday at the dealership. Indicated that it's supposed to fit an '07......WRONG! The throttle body is moved a few inches on the new '07 engines, so the kit won't line up and connect together. Am still awaiting word from Roush if they have a proper tube or adapter to fix this problem.
3) Shocks. I had recently purchased some Bilstein shocks from a user here on f-150 online. They were to fit an '04-07 2wd F-150.......WRONG! They don't fit mine apparantly due to Ford building my truck with the front shocks that are designed for a 4wd truck! Not 2wd like they are supposed to. The tech installing them referenced my VIN number, and the shock part #'s, and they are for a 4wd model. Somehow my 2wd truck was supplied those, and I would have never known until it was time to order new shocks. So am awaiting word from Bilstein as to what shock model I need to buy that will fit.
I am a little worried about ordering anything else that is "supposed" to fit my truck....especially without test fitting it first. I hate to see what else won't work with my truck.
Moral of the story?
Check your VIN number to see if everything is ok when ordering new aftermarket parts....especially when your truck is so new like mine.
Save yourself a ton of headaches and try to avoid the trial and error method that I am experiencing.

Well I can say that the Magnaflow Catbacks for the 06's fit, 16612 is what I installed today on my 07 FX2. Also the WADE rain shields for the 06 fit great.
My Husky liner mats from my 2004 Expedition fit my 07 also with no problems!

I can tell you they are supposed to fit better than they do in this picture....

How are they supposed to fit?
From what I read....this was the only way they are going to fit. I tried both on the drivers side, something doesn't make sense.

So, by your pics, they stick out a bit all the way through....i imagine that's how its supposed to be done.
Damm, I didn't even realize it until I looked at it this morning while pumping gas......lol....

So yeah, this what I did under further investigation.
Tried to use the bars on the opposite sides...I did have it right originally.
Problem is there is a small plastic pieces at the corner of the front fender, like a protective shield. It blocks the bar from getting closer to the body itself, and causes the front to stick out more than the rear. I don't want to remove that piece cause it hides to holes in the body that the bar can't hide with it off. So with that, I tried to adjust the rear bracket of the bars so it would look more even. It worked, but not perfectly. Still not quite exact.
If I knew this would look this way, I think I'd have never bought them in the first place, so now they are officially up for sale.
DG Motorsports side skirts are next on the shoppin list.
***UPDATE***
Got off the phone with the dealership.
In case people want to know....
According to them, the Roush cold air intake DOES NOT FIT an '07 4.6L engine. Not available yet, no timeframe either for when it will be ready.
So now I gotta figure out something else. Hmmm....

They should fit flush with the bottom of the cab...flat and even. You maybe able to adjust them and get it even, but if they arent lining up right I would bet they are on the wrong side.
