nitto terra grappler 325/65x18 on FX4 rims
nitto terra grappler 325/65x18 on FX4 rims
Anyone running these on an 04-06 with the stock FX4 rims? I've always liked the FX4 rims and want to keep them. Need new tires and have the BFG AT KO's now - 285/65x18 on stock rims now but due to a lot of highspeed turnpike/highway driving, don't really care for the rough ride at high speeds so instead of trying the new size BFG 305/65x18's gonna try the nitto's but they jump size from the 285 to the 325. Want to stay with the 65's for the height. So, any of you guys running these on the stock FX4 rims? thanks for any info ! kevin
Tire Size
FYI going to 325/65/18s will increase your ride height from the 285/65/18s by 2". Calculated O.D. of the 285s is 32.6" and the 325s is 34.6". Thats going to have a large effect on your fuel mileage gearing also.
That said, does anyone else out there know how wide we can go with tires on stock 18" FX4 rims? My OEM BFG Long Trails are about worn out at 45k miles. The tread is in good condition but does not handle wet roads as well as I'd like, and I'd like to increase width so I do not need to air down on the beach.
Thanks,
Don (Newbie)
'04 FX4 SuperCab - pretty much stock except for tonneau and racks

I'm ok with the height, have a 2" AS and 1.5AAL. It is just the width on the stock rim. My bro has same height with an 05 FX4 and just installed BFG MT's 35/12.5x18 on the stock rims and only slight rub when wheel is turned all the way. The 325's are 1/2" wider - almost 12.99" compared to his MT's at 12.5". I may just end up going with the BFG's 305/65x18 but would really like to get the Nitto's if they will fit.

i dont recomend them i had them on stock wheels and they rub real bad on more than 65% of turns, i recomend the 325/60/18... i sloved the problem with my 325/65/18 with the wheels i got. now they dont rub at all.

thanks - I ended up ordering the 305 BFG's from Tire Rack. Wanted the most height and they were the tallest - 33.7" diameter - without stepping up to the 35/12.5 or 325/65. The 325/60 series are 32.99".

Have you got the tires yet? How is the fit? Any rubbing? I am considering buying the same tire.
I plan on the 305x65's as well when the time is needed but on the BFG site it says for rim with, it needs to be 8.5 - 11" recommended. I think i read the stock fx4 rims are 7.5", will that be ok?
I will post updated pics this weekend with the 305's. My sig is still with the 285's. Received them in 2 days after ordering and had them installed next day. No complaints at all dealing with Tire Rack. These tires fill the wheel wells just right with the 2" AS and AAL. Dealer mounted and road-forced on the stock rims, no problems with the fit. No rubbing at all, even at full turn and on dirt roads. I don't do much off roading. We have some open straight highways around and it rides straight and no shimmy at all, even at 100mph. - they are R speed rated, 106 mph. Of course the tread is more course/rough, you can feel them way more than the stock Goodyears. In all, they look great and drive great for an LT truck tire, and IMO, look bad a$$ on a black FX4 - -black walls out of course !
