Tan leather shifter cover installed

I wanted everyone to see the tan leather cover with the stitching laced to match the steering wheel cover. I stitched it underneath then back over, which is the way my leather steering wheel cover is.

The tan one that I received had the top part rolled over but not the bottom. I actually like it fine this way so I am just going to leave it. The color and texture of the leather match my interior perfectly!

Please keep this thread on topic.

i want it? haha

how much? 50 bucks???

was it just a simple stich up and done?

F150 Duke 11-16-2006 08:01 PM

Looks great! I think that's how the Mark LT shifter is stitched as well.

Looks good,

Duke

countyboy04 11-16-2006 08:02 PM

Looks good, mine still hasn't got here.

whitecrystal1 11-16-2006 08:07 PM

Nice jod:thumbsup: I like the way you stiched yours. How hard was it to keep it tight doing it like that?

It was easy to stitch it that way once the top was tight. I struggled a little to keep the top tight but once the top and the next row was tight they held and I just used the needle to grad the next row, pull out the slack and then tightened. I repeated that process the entire way.

When I got to the bottom I ran it down into the last hole on each side and then went over and down into the opposite hole. I then tied a triple knot from underneath and cut off the excess.

I guess those sewing lessons my mom gave me paid off. She used to be a sewing instructor.

In my opinion, I think it looks better without the cover.

Kool Aid 11-16-2006 08:55 PM

I stitched mine that way the first time, with the waxed thread.....but didn't like it at all in my truck.

So, I cut it off and used the white thread that matches the KR thread in the seats, and used the cross stitch this time.

Thanks for posting that man... That is DEFINITELY how I want mine to look. Very nice work there!

Sure thing...

Thanks for the kudos. I think it's a nice upgrade; especially for those who didn't want to go down the LT ****er pathway.

I had pressed Eddie to make these several months ago. Whitecrystal1 actually convinced him to make them. All in all, I think they turned out very nice all the way across the board.

This mod isn't for everyone - no doubt. Everyone has opinions about how they want their truck to look but, for me, this is a nice little touch that makes a difference in look. In my opinion, it's these subtle touches that set certain trucks apart from the others.

Kudos to you to. You made this happen more than me. I may have just sped it up a little. If I was the only one to ask I'm sure this wouldn't have happened. Besides when I ask about it it was already on his list to do. Thanks Rockpick :bows:

I believe the vast majority would agree with me. You can get a complete leather steering wheel cover for less than $50. I still think it's overpriced. Also, in Koolaid's picture, it looks wrinkled.

Again, thanks for your opinion. You're entitled to it and always go out of your way to portray it.

You're right. I'm wrong. We all are horrible people for buying these... yadda-yadda-yadda. It's old rocky85, let it go?

Those are not wrinkles.

That's a refection of the chrome shifter surround you are seeing.

But thanks for looking.

Thanks. I studied the way Ford laced up the steering wheel cover and copied the over and under lacing method that they used.

I really like this mod. To bad I don't have a floor shifter now in the 250.:(

Jolly_Green_Giant 11-20-2006 10:07 AM

Recieved my Sat and installed yesterday (Sunday). One of the best looking mods I've done to any vehicle. Makes the entire interior look a bit more classy. Not posting pictures since there are plenty already here. But, it looks the same as the others. That plastichrome top was starting to peel on my shifter and this covered it up perfectly.
One person comented about it being rolled on the top but not on the bottom. Mine was rolled on both.

Ranch-it-Out 02-17-2008 03:20 PM

any more ideas for leather mods to a F150?

Mike2147 02-17-2008 09:18 PM

Ok so I missed the boat on the group buy I see. Where do I get one of these or is there a link with different colors? My interior is black and grey.

thanks
Mike

Ranch-it-Out 02-18-2008 06:53 PM

I can't post a link due to respect to forums rules but someone else could or start a new thread on it ...
