Portable Battery Booster Packs

I've been talking about buying one of these for over a year.

Well, last night I left the radio playing in my truck and this afternoon nothing! It pissed me off that I had to flag down my neighbor to give me a cable jump.

Does anyone have one of these portable battery starter packs? What brand do you have and what feedback do you have on it?

I searched for a couple of hours today and came accross this one that seems to be very good and very reasonably priced.

Opinions?

Product Features

Portable Battery Charger
1500 Peak AMPS
Cable Length: 43"
Cable Guage is Heavy Duty
Sealed Lead Acid Battery (AGM)

Thanks for your feedback.

I dunno about $30-40 though; the cheapest I've found it online is right on around $100.00 delivered [LINK]. It's selling for about $155.00 out the door at Pep Boys so I figured $100.00 delivered was a bargain.

However, $30-40 is a steal! Post a link if you can.

They're great

The one I have also has a 12V outlet on the front, so I can use it at campsites, etc. to power things like portable ham radios.

I charge mine up and stick it in the truck when I have to leave it for a few days during cold weather (like at the airport) and don't want to get stuck with a dead battery.

If I may, this Schumacher unit has nearly 500 CCA w/ an 18AH rating & might save you a little money as its marked down on Amazon. It's a good one. I enjoy mine.

I have a Portawattz Power Pack. It has a 400w 115v converter on it. I got it under $90 at Menard's. Works well.

I just bought one from Sears awhile ago for about $110 with the intention of storing it in my truck because it seems like I'm always getting flagged down by people needing jump starts. It also has an air compressor for pumping up tires and DC~AC power inverter. The downside is that it's kind of bulky and too big to slide under my seat (05 Supercab) therefore it would have to sit on the floor taking up space all the time so I haven't been keeping it in the truck. I know this defeats the purpose of even buying it, but I still can jump my own vehicles at home and would be handy to take along on a long trip in case of emergencys. The portable jumpstarter that Grubrunner posted looks like it would be perfect if you wanted to store it in your truck.

Well, I've decided to go with the battery starter I posted/spoke about in the opening posts.

Over the last few days, I've noticed that the guys here [Rich, VA] at Pep Boy's workshop, Circuit City installation bays, Best Buys installation bays and a local BIG body [LINK] shop all use the same one; Solar (SOLES5000) BOOSTER PAC.

The guy at Best Buy told me that he has a personal one and one time held its charge for almost two full years .. .. .. just as the manufacturer implies. That's pretty damn impressive. They've had their one in the workshop for over eight years and it's still going strong; and have had to start completely dead batteries [under 6volt] on several occasions.

Shookman is correct; I did want something that was compact enough to store in the truck as I intend to cart it around with me. Especially this time of the year.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone.

PS: For the record, I purchased mine from the link below. The price was very good along with free shipping but a friend recommended them as he's purchased off them several times in the past with Five Star customer service.

I keep a Coleman in my truck. It has 12v port and a light. Use it all the time. I got it for Christmas 2 years ago and have charged it maybe 2 or 3 times. I like it because it is compact, it fits under my rear seat no problem.
