Removing bumper on 05 F150?

First and foremost I am a noob on this forum but have had my F150 for nearly a year and a half now so hello everyone. I have a quick question about removing the bumper. It's an 05 F150 XLT if that makes a difference...

I was trying to install tow hooks on my 05 F150 and found several threads here on doing it but everyone said the bumber comes of with only 4 bolts to access the opening on the frame for the tow hook install. I got the 4 bolts off and the bumber is completely loose but still wont come off due to that plastic panal part above the bumper that is above the bumper and below the front grill. It is in the way and the bumper hits it when trying to pull it off. How can I get this off? It runs all the way under each headlight also and looks like a pain to take off.

Is it easier to just remove the valance and access the frame opening there to slide the nuts in for the tow hooks? It just looks like I will have to remove the headlights and all kind of screws and whatnot in order to get this plastic panal above the bumper off. Thanks for the help!

Anybody? The other threads I've searched don't offer alot of specifics on the panal I am talking about. Google isn't my friend either. Thanks!

I know nothing about it, but welcome, and hopefully, someone will.

Pull from the bottom, angle the bumper so it faces the sky and pull up and back. The top valance is plastic and will flex a little.

Ah, OK thanks. I was worried I would break it pulling like that seeing as it didn't look very strong. I guess I just need to strong-arm it a little bit more then.

Thanks for the help those who posted. I got everything done this evening when I got home from work. Bumper came off exactly as you said. Thanks!
