Switched from an '00 Dodge Ram last winter to my new '06 F150 Scab for this winter. The stock Rugged trailes absolutely suck in the rain let alone the snow (to come); I'm curious to see what you're running on yours... considering BFG TA KO's (expensive), Pro Comp X-treme A/T's, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor's, or Kumho KL-78's.... opinions? Pics?

i didnt think a f-150 was built for plowing but hey that up to you i place a tire called blizzack on my truck in the snowy weather they do just fine

 

I'd agree in that an F-150 just isn't really designed to plow snow - at least not much more than your own driveway. For commercial use, you really need to go to a Super Duty. (We run nine of them.) If you do decide to plow with your's, take it easy. None of the newer trucks are as over-designed as they were in the good old days. Yea, you can hang a plow on them, but they won't like it. In fact, you may want to see if it voids your warranty.

As for tires, our new favorite is the Bridgestone Dueler Revo. (I probably spelled that wrong.) I think you'll find that the wheel size on our trucks kind of limits your overall tire choice, but they're available in your size. In fact, a set will be going on my truck (even though I don't plow with it) in the next month or so.

 

The Dueler Revo's were my first choice last fall, but with the holidays coming up I was able to save about $200 by getting the Cooper Discoverer ATR's.

 

Bridgstone Dueler AT revo's here also. I dumped the Generals at 400 miles and have 33k on these. Great in snow and rain both. My only concern for plowing would be that they are a P tire, not an "LT".

Now before all of you jump my case for saying that one shouldn't plow snow with an F-150, I should admit that a few years ago I set up my son's F-150 to plow. Did it destroy the truck? No. But it certainly had its limitations.

 

I purchased my truck with the Tow & Go package (transmission cooler, HD Battery and HD Alternator) and also the snow plow prep package (heavy duty front shocks/springs). I was told, and it's in writing, that with these two packages on my truck that my warranty is still in effect, plus my uncle's brother is the service manager at my local ford dealership.

As far as the Dueler A/T's, they look nice, but there is less tread depth then the Rugged trails I have now... 11/32 compared to 13/32... I am looking for like 16-18/32. Guess I'll keep looking.
