I can't think of one reason wearing your seatbelt should be a law. Unless people flying out of cars posed a serious problem to other people's safety. Looks like i just injected my own opinion... oh well, do you see my point?

On Topic: Google it, I turned off the drivers seat but I leave the passenger seat on because, I can be an idiot and not wear it if I want.(most of the times I'm off road spotlighting or smoething related and that stupid alarm comes on after about 30 sec) Im not letting anyone else get harmed due to my stupidity.
Its not that flying bodies are a true treat to anyone elses health.

Increasing the national seat belt use rate to 90 percent from the current 68 percent would prevent an estimated 5,536 fatalities, 132,670 injuries and save the nation $26 billion annually.<THATS TAX PAYERS MONEY

We all pay for those who do not wear seat belts. Countless studies have proven with irrefutable evidence that drivers and passengers sustain more severe injuries when they are not restrainded. The higher health care and insurance costs that result from unbelted drivers and passengers involved in crashes get passed along to everyone. Just for medical care, lost productivity, and other injury related costs, society annually pays an estimated $26 billion for motor vehicle injuries and deaths experienced by unbelted vehicle occupants. The costs of hospital care for an unbelted driver are 50 percent higher than those for a driver who was wearing a safety belt. Society bears 85 percent of those costs, not the individuals involved.

EDIT: And come to think of it, it's kinda like using your signal....some people seem to think that is optional. If you can't do simple things like use your signal or wear your seatbelt then what makes you think you can drive?
Yeah, what he said!

Also the dope who said to cut the wires you must have an 03 when it didnt matter because u dont have an airbag sensor in your seat but if you disconnect the wires i get that real sweet little guy with the air bag in his face chime every 3 seconds but dont sweat it i read the manual anf figured it out i'll take care of it monyona thanks guys

I don't think it costs 28 billion to clean up a little extra blood from a "raging non-seatbelt wearing criminal". You're handling the heat well cliff, better than I could.

I wear my seatbelt when operating on the roadway all the time, but I too did turn off my seatbelt dinger. It is annoying!! There are times when you start the truck and don't drive right away and that damn thing is dinging away. I use my truck out on my families land frequently, getting in and out and never going above 10 mph. No I don't want to have my belt on, so off with the dinger. Everyone will have there own reasons to turn it off, respect that..

There are some cases where the seatbelt chime is, in fact, a legitimate nuisance. For instance, I work in residential construction and spend a great deal of time in my truck every day slowly cruising my neighborhood or just sitting idle while I make phone calls or shuffle paperwork. I figured out how to disable that chime the first day I had my truck! I'm not putting my seatbelt on every time I have to drive 100 yards down a suburban neighborhood road!

And could they have made that chime any more annoying??

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING

Not to be rude or anything

you should just wear your seatbelt that will fix the problem real quick and anybody that rides with you. unfortunately,All new vehicles are going to have that feature like it or not. Due to gov. safety regs.

But if not then you should be able to un-plug them underneith the seats near the seatbelt receiver. Hope it helps.

Now do people see why me and the creator of this post asked for people not to inject their personal views of seatbelt use. It should now be moved to the general discussion forum. THe original post was a technical question about an electrical issue, yet here we are again debating the effectiveness of seatbelts. I already said I appreciate the opinions of anyone with personal experience or just a firm belief, however I don't care to discuss it here like politics nor religion.

To answer a technical question yes you can disable a 2006 regardless of the health or economic ramifications. Turn the key to the on position do not start the engine. Wait for the seat belt light to go off. insert the seal belt 9 times when the airbag light comes on do it one more time. Turn off and restart.

I had the same problem turning mine, an '06, off.

Our manual says something like 9 times you have to buckle and unbuckle the belt, but I had to go 10.

Oh, btw I live 1.1 miles from my office and never go above 30 miles an hours on the commute. I rarely wear my seat belt while going to work b/c it takes me longer to put it on that it does just to drive to work.

There are a few rare times when It's not needed and a total pain in the butt. Such as traveling arround my flat grassland farm and having to do and undo the seatbelt every 60 seconds to open/close the gates. So, give it a rest on the "just wear the thing" posts. I believe he stated in the very first post "BESIDES JUST PUTTING IT ON". Therefore your comments were unwanted and uneeded.

Now to ANSWER the question.

Look it up in the manual and if you can't find it send me a p.m. and I'll send you the instruction.

Thank you. I am not disputing the fact that wearing your seatbelt on the road isnt safe. You would have to be an idiot not to wear one. I would just rather wear it on my own free will rather than having the government (or my truck) tell me to. Its really a matter of principal for me.

IMO, not wearing your seat belt is ****ing dumb and you don't deserve a car if you don't wear it. However, I also believe it's a choice. If you dont want to wear your seat belt, great. Darwin's law of natural selection will take care of that. And saying you live 1.1 miles from work is bull****. 95% of accidents happen when someone was "just running down to the corner store," or "just going 2 miles to a friend's house." As far as I am concerned, due to a lot of research it is worth it to wear my seat belt. I will pass this same habit on to my son beginning the day he is born. What you do is your business, not mine. But, an airbag works about 200% better when used in combination with a seatbelt.

Other than the swearing, I couldn't agree more.
