I think we need to add a sticky

Keep the reminder that 4Hi and 4Lo is for snow, ice, and mud only. Never, ever, on hard surfaces (including rain).

This question keeps coming up, people think they have an AWD vehicle but they don't.

If I don't get off pavement, I get plenty of flooding rain and EXTREMELY slick streets. I average twice a month that I get to engage the 4x4. I do it out of driving control and not maintenence program though. I would bet it helps...

Well, if you are in flooding conditions

that makes sense.

But you should never engage 4wd just because it's raining.... again... it is NOT an AWD or full-time 4wd vehicle. In fact, having it in 4hi during a rainstorm could be very dangerous, because the truck is going to try to alleviate drivetrain wrap and could very well throw you into a spin when it breaks free and starts spinning one or more wheels.
