Who's got 22's?
 

I have an 06' Silver XLT Supercrew and my next mod is rims and tires. I don't plan on lowering it at all so I was thinking 22's might take up more space in the wheel wells than 20's. Any takes on this? I don't want nothing to "bling bling" just nice clean looking wheels. So where should I start and what size tire would suite this setup? Thanks for any info and pics would be greatly appreciated!:thumbsup:

Also will I notice the added weight of the rims as far as accelerating and stopping goes?

here are some pics of my 22's i think mine are real basic and not very bling bling, they are american racing rt-s, and they are aluuminum and only a couple pounds heavier then stock so i didnt notice a difference acceleration or stoping wise

If you dont want it to look out pf place, you should go with 20's and a thick sidewalled tire. 22's with a 40 or 45 sidewall profile has that "look" which cant be solved unless lowered a little.

I picked the eagle 026 rims because they were sharp, classic looking without being too "bling".

These are 22s on my 4x4 without lowering or a leveling kit. I put 305/45/22 rubber which gives an extra .5 inch of rubber all the way around the rim. Since it's larger then stock, you'll have to have the PCM updated with the new tire size. Talk nicely to the dealer and they might do it for free like mine did.

Unless you're doing a lift with huge tires, I think 20s look too small in these huge wheel wells. I get tons of compliments and I'm SO glad I didn't do 20s. I think I still have plenty of rubber around the rims to prevent the "street" look.

Yo Duke, what exactly did you say to the dealer for the PCM reflash? I don't care to pay some, but I just don't know what to ask. My SA is a bit of an airhead, so I want to be as precise as possible.

Well if you say you'll pay they're going to charge $150, that's what a dealer reflash is.

I just said that I bought and installed new tires and rims that were a larger diameter. I was talking with the Service manager at the time. I then asked if he knew of somewhere I could go that would change the tire setting in the PCM to account for the larger diameter tires. He said they'd take care of it for me.

It's some setting I believe is called RPM or something like that.

WOW, $150 for about 20-25 minutes of work? That equals out to $450/hr! Surely this isn't the case! Then again, these are dealers we are speaking of.

22" Helo Skids w/ 305/40/22 Nitto 420s... I need to at the very least get a 2" drop on the rear.

Not kidding what so ever. For some reason they said it wasn't on normal labor hours. I know how much it was going to cost because the regular service worker tried to charge me and I saw the bill. Then referred him to his boss.

There are local speed-o-meter shops that will change it for less than $50. I just used this as an excuse to buy the Xcal2 though because I have to change it twice a year for the winter tires and rims. :devil:

I want the XCal2 as well, but I can't justify the $$$$ right now. Let's hope my dealer is as helpful as yours was.

When I called my service dept. 2 yrs ago, they said that it could not be done so I bought a Superchips programmer. Oh Well........

Here's some more 22's for you, although I went up a little with a 2.5 daystar leveling kit, and I have 325/50/22 Nitto TG's on them (35" overall height). Check out my gallery if you want more pics.
