All silver emblem

I remember seeing a forum topic where some guys had posted pics of their Ford emblem where they had removed the blue background behind it and gone to an all silver look. I have done several searches and looked at multiple topics, but cannot seem to locate it.

I had custom emblem stickers on my truck, but they had too many bubbles underneath and weren't sticking on the edges so I removed them. Unfortunately when I removed them some of the blue actually peeled off the Ford emblem so now that doesn't look too good either. My solution is to remove all the blue and go to the all silver emblem look. Can anyone give me specific directions on how to complete this task? Thanks in advance.

I have been looking at that, but that was performed on an older F-150. It doesn't look to be quite the same for a 2006. I have my front emblem off and sitting in front of me, but not sure if I need to remove what looks to be a metal portion over top of a black plastic portion. Or if I can simply take a hair dryer from here and remove the blue portions.
