Lumbar support knob removal???
:help:
Ok guys, I'm stumped. I'm upgrading the interior in my 04 to leather, but the Lumbar Support Knob has stopped me in my tracks. I've been fiddling and prying at it for 20 minutes and I'm afraid I'm going to break it. Does anyone know the secret? Thanks |
The lumbar support pulls straight out, however do not pull on the backrest lever, it is held in by a clip that has to be removed (I found this out the hard way, by breaking the big cover behind them).

Thanks! Pried it straight up from both sides and it popped right off! Took a lot more force than I was expecting. Had already found the clip on the backrest lever... thanks for the heads up anyway. TXF150 youda man! |
Best way to remove the lumbar wheel is with two big plastic 'putty spreaders' You can put one on each side and sorta force pop it off. No marks or damage.
If you are strong enough to just grab it and pull it straight out and off you probably could tear a two by four in half with your bare hands:eek: . One of mine has been pulled off four times and it still takes two sided prying. Chris |
The best way i found was to take a loop of twine in your hand, wrap it around the back of the knob and pull straight out.

Another solution
After removing the seat cushion you can see where the knob and the tan incert begins. I used a heat gun and turned the knob continuisly until good and warm. Then used two large screwdrivers (at 2 and 10 o'clock for support) and the knob came off easily.
