Will FX4 rims fit an XLT?

I'm looking at a new '05 xlt with 17" wheels. I don't like the rims on it so if I buy it I want to put my '04 FX4 wheels and tires on it. I can't see the lug pattern on it so my question is will the wheels fit? Are the lugs the same on the 17 and 18 " wheels? By the way the fx4 wheels are 18". Thanks

I painted the spokes black on my XLT wheels. made a lot of difference. I could not stand them before I did it, now quite happy with them. Depending on the color of the truck, that is something to consider. Actually, these trucks have so much black trim, I think it looks better on just about any color. I hate that faded gray. Pics in my gallery.

BTW, if you look at the pics, I have lowered the rear 2" and added larger Michelins with the black side out. I like the wheels even better with these.

Thanks! It was one of my best Saturday projects as far as satisfaction goes. Every time I looked at my truck with those faded gray spokes, I asked "Why Ford, did you do that?".

I did the same thing, I bought mine as new takeoffs with BFG tires on ebay for 600. Which is a steal considing the price of the just the tires, mounting, balancing etc. is more than that.

If you had the 235/70/17's like I do on my XLT, you'll most likely have to have your PCM reprogammed to accept that new size of 275/65/18. Or have a tuner. Either way, you're odo and speedo will be off if you don't take care of that.

That's what I have to do after I get my FX4 wheels/tires.

they will fit but the standard FX4 rim is a 17 inch rim the 18 inch rim is an option. at least it was in 2004. I am not sure if it still is now.

There are two stlyes of fx4 wheels. The ones I have are 18", but there are some that have a silver face that are only 17".

They look like 17" chrome clad steel wheels

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out if these will give me a problem in the snow/salt. I'd hate for them to start pitting on me, but I think I've heard the factory wheels aren't an issue.

And wow, I just realized I completely hijacked this thread. At least the original question was answered.
