Advice on 04' vs 05' S'Crew
Long time lurker/first time post for me.
I have a 99' S'Cab 4x4, Off Road that is getting up there in miles (130k). Just started to look at the newer F150 and wanted advice on the 04 vs 05. Should I be concerned with the 04' being the first year with the new style? Are there items /options that I should look for ....or avoid? Are there typical gremlins in the 04' that Ford fixed in the 05'? Anybody regret going to the shorter bed from S'Cab? Point me in the right direction please! :help: |
The 04's had various issues such as vibes...rear window leaks...and a pretty crappy tune from the factory. The mid to late 2005's were much improved, but then started having problems with sticking and leaking injectors. So just make sure you test drive what you plan on driving thouroughly.

I was concerned about that as well when I bought my 04 Super Crew New in 03. I have 65K miles on it and have been Very happy with it.
I'd definitely take it for a good test drive as there are vibe complaints. Personally I haven't experienced anything like it. I had a vibration at about 30k but a rotate and balance straigtened it right up. I'm out of the 60k warranty now but am still running the original brake pads, rotors etc. The only issue I had was a plug coil pack went out. Replaced with no further issues. |
I have a Job 1 '05 Screw (factory order), built in Kansas City. After two years of ownership, I've had no issues with the truck...none. Still rides and drives like new. Short bed works fine for me.
