I've been trying to install my e-fans since the Jusnes group buy way back and everytime I run into some sort of snag. First I was going on a road trip and decided to save it until I returned incase something went wrong, second I planned to install it over a long weekend but forgot to get the clutch fan wrench, this time I got the clutch fan wrench from Canadian Tire (google it if you're interested) and it came with three different size wrenches and NONE of them fit :mad:. I've been to every other automotive store in town and no one else has them. So, does anyone know the size of wrench I need because I'm going to have to just go out and buy one or try to sell the fans on eBay or something?

use a pipewrench or maybe a large cresent, mine wasn't all that tight. I borrowed a tool from a customer, it used an air chisel, the chisel he gave me was broken so I gave it a wrap with a hammer and block of wood.

I tried the fish killer (crescent wrench) approach already. It just started to strip it.

I still have not install my efans yet, still waiting on the metal fab shop for my custom shroud....

Remove the fan shroud.

Remove one of the fan-to-clutch bolts, to access the clutch-to-hub nut.

Turn the large fan clutch-to-hub nut COUNTERCLOCKWISE to remove the fan and clutch from the hub. Use holding tool T84T-6312-C and nut wrench T84T-6312-D, or equivalent.

T84T-6312-C holds the pulley
T84T-6312-D holds the fan nut

nothing tell me what size it is..not even the Factory Ford Sevice DVD... maybe search the net with these tool part numbers... might find the size....

maybe this will help you out...

A friend just returned my call, he had the info...

T84T-6312-C 57mm 2 ¼”

T84T-6312-D 36mm 1-7/16”

Ya, I have the DVD manual as well. I even printed off that page and took it to every automotive store in town and no one had one that would fit.

Wait, 36mm sounds familiar. I think that's what one of the ones I got from Canadian Tire is but it was a very sloppy fit and started to strip. Maybe it was 38 or something.

hope it works for you, I'll be doing the same soon...ford dvd says 40ft lbs, so it not that tight, should break loose pretty easy.. I would think...

I'm not sure on the clockwise, counterclockwise.. I know a few have said the manuals are wrong... to me it should loosen in opposite direction to pulley rotation ...

let me know about those size for my future use when I get my shroud... :thumbsup:

dude just go to autozone they have a rent a tool for free you only leave a dep but when you return it they give you all the monney back the part nummber you need is 27018 the part for the pullie works but the one for the fan dosent just use a pair of channel locks works grate took me 5 sec to get it off just rember that the wrench on the pullie goes twards the driver side and the wrench on the fan nut goes tward the passinger side

I don't have an Autozone but Canadian Tire does the same thing.
I tried one more time with the adjustable wrench (I forget the name but not a crescent) and I was able to bust it loose. I held the clutch with the part from the kit and pulled on the wrench counter-clockwise. The wrench wasn't very long so I didn't have much torque which made it a little more difficult then if the wrench in the set worked plus I had to squeeze hard so it didn't come loose but I did get it. Tomorrow I actually install the fans.

Don't worry, the same thing happened to me. I had the same kit you do and went to another shop that rents equipment and theirs fit. Enjoy installing those e-fans, I'm getting rid of scratches! :D

So let me make sure I'm reading the instructions right. I need to insert rods into the rad to hold the fan on?

thats it, to are reading right.... it the part I having a problem with, thats why i'm having a custom shroud made to mount the fans and will seal to the rad. will mount to factory shroud mounting points...
I just not keen on sticking rods though my rad....

I think the plastic rods though the rad was the hardest part of the install but I did it and I have been down a few rough trails and they have not moved at all so they work :banana:
