Break in time?
 

What's the opinion on the break in miles on these trucks? I just got a new 06 Lariat 4x4 and immediatly put a whipple on it. LT headers and new exhuast go on next week. It's all I can do to keep my foot out of it and I don't want to stress the motor too early.

I've said it B4 and I'll say it again:

The moment you drive out of the deakership.

I wouldnt head off to the race tracks right after I bought a new truck. just drive like you normally would. the only break-in period that I'm aware of is the 500 mile wait before you hook anything up to the trailer hitch.

this is one of those opinion-based topics these days.

You'll hear many theories.

but, the one thing I have heard (and have no idea about the truth behind it) is the one good thing to do is to vary the speeds and RMS to give break-in as opposed to always driving at 1800 RPMS and 45 MPH for example.

Again, not sure if it is true...just passing possible info along :help:

I concur .... this is what most race motor builders do... for the frist 500 miles

in the manual it says its been broken in already

...Yeah, by the line monkeys that drive it from the end of the line to the parking lot. They measure the burnouts for props :thumbsup:
