Trading in because of gas prices?
After the F250 i drove from 03 to 05 the F150 gets alot farther on a tank of gas, so i love my F150's mileage driving it is worth the money to me.If gas is a big issue buy a $500 piece of crap 4-cylinder to get to work. And insure it for collision only.
I didn't really need a full-size truck in the first place. That's the only reason I've been thinking about driving my little S-10 more. I'm on pace to put 18k on the F150 this year, while my paid off S-10, which costs just a bit less to insure, sits with the same gas it had when I bought the F-150 in December. Then again, would my s-10 have handled another big mileage year without becoming unreliable? It would be pushing 180k by now.

I have to think that even if gas prices were cheaper when you bought the vechile you had to think ahead for the future and make sure your budget could handle the vechile. I can't see buying a vechile that would put me in financial pinch.
While the gas prices suck around Raleigh, the cheapest currently is $2.76/gal. Course with me only driving 5 mi. one way to work it helps.

If all you're using your F150 for is going back and forth to work, then maybe you should trade it in. I bought my 2004 F150 so I could tow and haul. I use my Ranger V6 for the around town stuff.
I think one of the reasons so many guys are contemplating trading in their trucks because of the current gas prices is because so many of the people who drive these things are living on a shoestring budget.
Down here in Houston I see an awful lot of very young guys (early 20's) tooling around in decked-out F-150's. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, so I know that a lot of these guys are spending a massive percentage of their income on truck payments, modifications, insurance, and gas.
To a young guy who has over-extended himself with his choice of vehicle, saving an extra $50.00 - $100.00 per month can mean the difference between going under and keeping the wolves at bay for another 30 days!
Young men have a tendency to be more than a little stupid when it comes to money matters.

If gas was $1.00 a gallon then people wouldn't give a hang that they got 12MPG, right? But when it is $3.00~ people DO care because it adds up faster.

There is NO excuse for anyone to be trading a truck in because of fuel mileage that is less then 3 – 4 years old other then they could barely afford it to begin with and thus was a stupid decision to buy one for want rather then necessity…
I would hope that people take into account the "hidden" costs of owning a vechile (i.e. insurance, fuel, modifciations) before purchasing. It seems to me that rather than make a few mods if they would put some of the money towards paying the vechile off they would have some extra moeny when they get rid of the payments to pay for the gas!
jeezuz guys. we as a country are so stupid! Escalade sales are up 127% despite the price of gas and the Hemi ads???? when i bought my truck the price was 1.60 to 1.80 a gallon. it was survivable then. luckily i paid more for a house in town and have a 15 minute commute- some of you poor suckers have got to be hurting- you are just too proud to admit it. there is nothing wrong with admitting that you are getting ephed. the problem is you cannot admit it and you continue to drive your gas pig. the point is this- we are feeding the fat pigs in this country and then the terrorist a$$holes that want to kill us all off get their share too. i love my truck too, but these fat a$$holes are preying on the fact that we love our trucks. don't let your pride eph you in the **** canal. i am currently looking for something cheaper to operate. i will let my truck sit in the driveway and drive it on weekends. i have no problem driving something that gets twice the mileage my truck gets. i love the feeling of how much money i am saving when UNCLE ROMAN passes me with his Hemi or the jerky with the ten foot lifted Super Duty. some of you will only get it when you are paying $10 a gallon. way to go guys!
